Home PC - Constantly Freezing.

My home PC will freeze for no reason.

It might freeze before the desktop shows, it might freeze 15 minutes in.

It's not overheating because I have cleaned out the fan, there are no viruses, adware, spyware etc

I have no idea what it could be? Any way i can diagnose it or any suggestions?

Heat related, needs a clean install or bad memory. Those are generally the main culprits.

If you have tried a clean install and are 100% sure it isn't heat related then the next thing would be to run memtest86 to see if the memory is having problems.

Back up your data!!!

i would do a restore to an ealier time too, u never know it may just work

Not tried a clean install yet, that was last option. I have no idea how to use the memtest86 or what to look for in the results mate.

It might also be worth checking the power supply in your PC. If it is failing it will randomly freeze, reboot etc.

Has it got onboard graphics or a dedicated graphics card, if dedicated graphics card this could be the culprit. Try disabling or removing it and using your onboard graphics if this is the case ;-)

My guess would be the RAM, have had similar problems with some that I just returned as defective.
