Home phone bill. Am I paying a ridiculous amount?

    Hey guys

Just trying to sort out my finances and I think I am paying a ridiculous amount for my Phone Bill with BT. It is cost me a total of £61.50 a month. We have the BT Free Evenings and weekends plan. The statement is so complicated that I need an encryption machine! Does anyone know the best place I can check prices, or does anyone know any good deals out there? Out of 468 calls (over a 3 month period) 173 were free (which I assume means the rest are to mobiles or calls to a landline during the day.

I am well confused, but I think I am being well and truly shafted with BT.

Really would appreciate your help guys.

You are right. I have been looking at a company called Primus and using a service called 18185 to reduce my mobile calls. I only have a PAYG atm.

I'm with BT and have broadband also but only pay approx £32 per month. You really need to be on the Unlimited antime plan, as you are paying almost 10p a call in the daytime just to connect to someone. Also they are changing evenings to start fro 7pm not 6pm making it even more expensive if you stay on the plan you have now.

how much are you spending monthly on payg

oh doesnt use his mobile a lot so is reluctant to get contract - are you the same

you should be able to get a good deal - i.e with quidco cashback -

got my girls o2 - jazzy phones (why i dont know) £15 monthly with the threat of taking it off them if they go 1p over

    fingers crossed its working out

Yes, we went from £35 a month on contract to about £20 (tops) on PAYG. I am reluctant to start another contract. I just read the bill and even at £61.50 we are still £17 in debt! It's crazy, we don't make tonnes of calls!

check out talktalk.co.uk i pay 23 quid a month all my calls are free free broadband and u get special deals for mobiles also some counties u might call are free. iv looked around and cant fine anything better than that . hope it helps

reckon you should change to sky foxy - without making 1 call on bt its about £35 + vat monthly -

sky dont charge for caller display - you can also get messaging free - you have to set these up separately

plus free bb - free up to 20 meg for 6 months at moment

if you do decide to go with sky wait until monday before ringing so you can try and get deal for taking the lot - might get free movies for 3 months or the like

I want the Sky Talk, TV and Broadband offer but it's not available in this area to to the lame internet speeds. :x

We came off BT and now have NO phone due to line rental etc... you are best with a mobile contract with unlimited TEXT and unlimted CALLS and a free mobile for less than you are paying now!

Just do what I just did as my Virgin landline calls to mobiles are extortionate (10p connection and 20p per min). So a 1 minute mobile call costs 30p! :w00t:

    Carphone warehouse Samusung E1100

£14.95 which includes £10 virgin top up card (£5 quidco so phone is effectively free!).

Phone comes unlocked (Shhhhhh!) so stick an ASDA mobile sim in it (8p per min, 4p per text!).

Will save me a fair bit over time :-D

I have a BT line, purely for broadband and receiving calls. Cant remember the last time I made a call on it. Think my bill is about £12pm, which includes evening and weekend calls free. I also have a mobile, which gives me enough free minutes to not worry about running out.

So if you make lots of calls during the day - and especially to a mobile - I think you should "top up" with a Voda £20pm sim, giving you 900 mobile minutes and unlimited anytime landline calls.

Of course, you could pay BT for a daytime unlimited call - but that wouldnt cover mobile calls - but at least 0870 etc numbers would be.
