Home Security Cameras

Found 22nd Dec 2017
After another break in during the week, thinking the time has come to pop some security cameras up.

Looking for recomendations - requirements:

- Reasonable picture quality day/night
- Weatherproof (they will be outdoors)
- PoE would be nice to save running multiple cables
- 3 Cameras minimum
- Local (network Dvr) or cloud storage.
- Must be able to remote view.

Any suggestions. Not looking to spend a fortune, maybe up to £200.

Try amazon, lots of choice there and the products have a lot of reviews. Did you have a burglar alarm fitted with motion sensors?

I was looking on amazon. Agree lots on there, but was looking for someone’s recomendations really.

No alarms, maybe that another job, pet friendly alarm.
I have a Yale pet friendly alarm, works really well, battery powered sirens and sensors so no wires other than the power socket to the alarm unit where you put your code into.

In terms of cameras remember anyone breaking in can easily trash a dvr destroying your evidence so either secure it in some kind of large cage or conceal it. Or alternatively get something that records to cloud (more expensive).

With criminals it’s all about making your property look less of an easy target, cameras and alarms will put them off but if you leave an iPad on the window sill or they know you have expensive stuff they will come anyway.

Cameras will help with evidence but remember people can see cameras there and simply wear a mask an alarm however will draw a lot of attention something criminals don’t want.
The Netgear Arlo is not cheap, but requires no wiring and stores video in the Cloud.
