Home Shopping Idea - Grocery Christmas Delivery

    Just a thought.

For those of you who often opt for home shopping, for whatever reasons, just booked a slot for an Asda delivery for the 23rd December. Just placed some aftershave in the order lol, but does mean now i do have a delivery slot, which i can amend before then.

Might be an idea as they say, to get in early

Yup, I have already done my shopping for the next 3 weeks

Bloody hell - just tried to do an ocado shop and all christmas slots have gone! There are 2 on the 20th and thats it! Didnt realise they had released theirs so early - thought it was 3 weeks in advance like tesco and sainsburys!

Be careful, you only get the slot for 3 hours I think and then you've got to check out.

However, you can amend the order up until the day before the delivery.

EDIT: It's all a bit confusing. One page says......
Your delivery is booked for 12pm - 2pm on Sunday 23 December 2007.

you need to check-out your order BEFORE 5PM THE DAY BEFORE YOUR DELIVERY IS DUE.

    so who knows?

    and the next page says.......

We have reserved a delivery slot for you:

    Day: Sunday 23 December 2007

    Time: 12pm - 2pm

This slot will be reserved for you for the next 3 hours or until you check out.

The 'Before 5pm' is the last time you can check out - so if you update your order, it needs to be done by then.

You do only have the delivery slot for 1/2/3 hours depending on the shop, so you need to checkout before then (or chose a delivery slot again)

good idea, gonna place an order now

Cheers Cutthroat (why does that feel and sound so wrong to type :??), and i have checked out as it were with my aftershave, and i have done that before, to give me more time to "browse the aisles".
Just means now, i have til 5pm on the 23rd to sort it all out, get what i can before then, and use that as either a fallback or a full on shop :giggle:

Was as much as an idea for someone like yourself Lou who has kids and stuff, as much for lazy gets like me

was a great idea, i was worried i wont get a slot nearer the time, should of thought of it lol

dont think the kids will appeciate carrying bags and bags of shopping from tesco on christmas eve, though tesco would only let me book the 21st, will try a little closer nearer the time

    rep left :-D

and lets face it, its horrendous getting round a supermarket that close to the day

Oh i hate going shopping near Christmas. It's like folks wanna buy up the entire store, and they're only closed for 2 days nowadays, not a week, it's madness, everyone get's stressed and stuff and, nah, i'll quit now lol
As for child carrying bags, i have been that child lol

just booked asda for the 23rd...lol, will keep both slots booked till nearer the time, might even need to use them both, lett my mum know too, she uses her 'trolley' but there are often larger heavier stuff that i can get delivered for her.

(she offers her trolley but the kids say no) :giggle:

Good idea, but isn't there a good chance that a lot of things might be OOS,what with the buying frenzy some people seem to go into at that time of the year and buy up stuff like it is going out of fashion. You could be left with a shortage of essentials and no time to go out and buy some.Might be an idea to go for a day or two earlier to give yourself a chance.

For those who have,or are booking asda, don't forget the free delivery codes on a £50 spend.
M3-JA-FD-TP is good for deliveries only till 11/12/07
M4-BM-F6-D3 will be good for xmas deliveries, expires 31/12/07
M4-XM-4F-D3 will be good for the new year, expires 31/01/08
    HTH:thumbsup:

I booked mine at 3am last night

    Try working there!:?

I worked at asda briefly and the vultures...oops sorry....much valued customers don't let you get to the shelves to put more stock out! They look at you with contempt if you even try to nab a small space beside the fridge,,you consistently find fresh and frozen food warming behind the bleach(coz the lazy gits can't be bothered to put it back from whence it came..........it's an horrendous experience, being paid minimum wage to be battered around like a boxer and then to be expected to smile warmly and be full of xmas cheer!

    I left 3 months after that!:-D

You can book sainsburys and tesco 3 weeks in advance, so each day you will be able to book one day closer to christmas.

Ocado are the only ones delivering xmas eve this year - and no spaces available

For those that have booked a slot @ Tesco and are going to change their order,i just noticed this on the site:
To make sure you can take advantage of the eCoupons sent to you, please note that any eCoupon code beginning with XX may not be used in conjuction with any other eCoupon code beginning with XX. And if you have an eCoupon, the code must be entered when you first place your order, unfortunately, eCoupons may not be used when changing your order.
Does that imply that if you change an order you can't then add a coupon that you may have come across.

Yup, when you change a tesco order you dont go through the checkout again, you just click checkout and it asks you to confirm changes.
