    Homemade Christmas gifts

Just wondering how many of you made your own christmas gifts?

My wife & I made some hampers, which I am particulary proud of!

    Basket consists of the following:

    Pickled Onions
    Pickled Pears
    Chocolate Fudge
    Christmas Pudding Vodka
App Magnets (recipient had an iPhone!)

All homemade by ourselves! :o) (Apart from app mags obviously!)

Anyone care to share their own delights??

How long is a piece of string?
Basket took about 19 mins to make, and the ribbon about an hour.
The wrapping took a matter of seconds to make!

    Whoosh to you too!

    You obviously missed the joke...

I think it looks great OP - what a really nice gift to give, especially as the contents are home made. Well done - I've got a few books with recipes to make food gifts and say every year I'm going to do it but never get round to it.

    Thanks!
We got the idea from the Hairy Bikers 12 days til Christmas cookbook.
I think its worth doing, however, it can work out expensive, so only make for your close friends!

That looks like a lovely gift - much more thoughtful than shop-bought items and probably much more appreciated I'm with Kaks - I mean well (every year) but never get round to it.

lovely idea may try this next year

    love the avater

Which books are they Kaks ?

nice birdyboy, I'm afraid im lazy when it comes to stuff like that, I love watching River Cottage (my idylic lifestyle) & such programmes for inspiration, but never get round-tuit.

They look great, would love to receive a gift like this.
Sort of on the same lines, we (my 3 year old and I) made home made tree decorations and gave them out to the family. We forced them to put them on their trees, even the colour co-ordinated ones ha ha!

I've got:- "Gifts from the Kitchen" and "Christmas Gifts from the Kitchen" (both by different authors). There's some lovely stuff in them and easy(ish) too. I've got the clear cello wrap and a lot of ingredients as well and would be able to do it but just never seem to have the time.

Thats a lovely idea, each year its getting harder to know what to get my parents, now this sort of thing they would love because of all the thought and work that has gone into it. Brilliant!

Ive made one too! pickled shallots, seville orange marmalade, shortbread, red onion marmalade, fudge, xmas cake,(all homemade) going to make some cheese straws, mince pies & brandy butter xmas eve to add. To finish it off ive got some got some stilton & cava. Worked out pretty expensive but looks (& hopefully tastes) great

Opp I wouldnt mind the pickled pear recipe if you have got it to hand please

I will be attempting this though next week - its a cookie christmas tree. I bought the set a few months ago which has all the different sizes of stars and instructions to make it - though doubt it will look as good as this picture though!

I've made my wife a mosaic number 'plate' for the front of the house. Just need to grout it

Ive not put it all in the basket yet still got stuff to do but I will take a pic when done Its great if you enjoy cooking. You can pick up jars cheap enough as well I got 4 x 750ml for £4 tied some xmas ribbon round them and a tag and I am more than happy with how they look.
Plus I have doubled up so Ive got stuff for when visitors pop round (just for a cold buffet)

Got it from Lakeland online couple of months ago for £4.99 which I thought was a bargain as saw them being sold on ebay for over £20 (exact same thing). Think they may have sold out of them now hence the greedy gits cashing in.

    Here's the link though:

It's pretty easy by the looks of the instructions but maybe I better not have a christmas drink while making it lol!

I must make more use of my homemade free range eggs soon.

Nice idea op. I've made the miss us a photo calendar from the kids. Might try a hamper for the parents next year
