Found 25th May 2008
I have £220 worth of Tesco clubcard vouchers (so £880 in deals) and some of them are about to expire shortly.. Im thinking of exchanging them for Goldsmiths vouchers to buy my daughter a pair of diamond earrings to put away for her 18th- the thing is shes only 17 months atm..
We've already booked our holiday for this year and i dont want to waste them on the odd meal here and there etc...
Was thinking of doing that this time then saving for Florida when shes more of an age to enjoy it..
Ive always been organised (ok my OH would say a control freak lol) but im wondering if this is a step too far or a good idea???

Don't buy a diamond from GOLDSMITH, as they know naff about diamonds and are over priced, go to somewhere where they will treat you like a friend Herbert Brown's.

I don't work for them no more lol, I am a qualified jeweller and pawnbroker. The sales assistants at goldsmiths are like 18 years old and know nothing lol as they are not trained.

I don't think it be a good idea to buy something that expensive for so later on,specially where the value could go up or down.

I've no idea what you could with them,is there anything in there you want yourself,or how about putting it towards Merlin passes if you like theme parks, aquariums etc.

im pretty sure you can send them back to tesco if they expire and renew them?/ someone will confirm this im sure

Also just consider that she may even never get her ears piecered unless you already done it.

This was mentioned a couple of days ago, and apparently its not guaranteed but Tesco usually exchange the out of date vouchers for new ones.

or sell them, they usually sell well

Not really sure what to do but thank you for replying- youve given me something to think about

better off using the vouchers for days out with your daughter as lots of £4 for £1 trades on clubcards.

Even if they are already pierced, she may allow them to close up. Besides which fashions change so much its a risky move, Maybe be better to transfer the vouchers into holiday next year and then use the cash saved to invest for her.

didnt think you could sell them

Call tesco and ask if they will reissue them, that way you will know and have time to spend them if not, but they usually do

Don't buy from Goldsmiths...

They have huge overheads and you will pay through the nose for diamonds...

Sell the vouchers or see if you can have them exchanged for new ones...

Really. Tbh i dont really know much about them but thought they were quite a popular way to spend the vouchers.. Will compare products/prices and maybe call tesco about reissuing them..

Thanks everyone for replying-rep left

I thought Goldsmiths was really reputable to buy from,I've only bought a watch for my partner from there, everything else too dear lol.
I want a bracelet in there, could afford it with Clubcard but your spend gotta be £200 and the bracelet is £110,I've got £69 or was it £79 worth of Clubcard vouchers so more than enough.

i contacted tesco through their website and explained i had a few out of date vouchers. they replied telling me to post them off to tesco and they would add them back on :-)

I hate Tesco, that aside and i don't know about their scheme, is there an exchange programme for driving lessons perhaps? A large block booking perhaps? Not saying you'll use it all but it is a good investment

Goldsmiths are the modern day ratners. Cheap tat really at OTT prices. How on earth can they afford to give away £200 of gold for £50 in tesco token? Its because £200 of their goods are only worth £50.

The big clue is no business would sell £200 of gold for £50 of tesco clubcard deals. I pity the poor souls who actually used hard earned cash and paid full price from them :w00t:

This explains why they don't give the weight of the jewellery in most cases.

Thanks again

Can't you get in touch with tesco and ask if they will issue you with new vouchers with a new expiry date if you hand in the current ones?

We all want Merlin cards!

Get the Merlin cards and sell them to me!

My friend put hers on ebay. They told her what they wanted in deals. then when they sold, she sent of for the vouchers and posted them off. there is no name on the deals they sent you, therefore no way of checkin ownership.

Sorry, but I think that is about to change - officially the date of change was 31/5/08, but I ordered some deals vouchers for Drayton Manor this week and they came through with our name on - never have before!! This will tighten things up for people who have 10+ cards who save for holidays in Aunties and Uncles names!!!

good to know. Thanks
