20 years!

Get him a girlfriend

Its the other 'spurts' you wanna worry about :whistling:

your lucky he's only been like that a month!!!my son has been a hormonal nightmare for 2 years and he is only 13....seriously tho i do feel for you and your family becouse i know how hard it is to have a hormonal monster about the house i really cant wait for this phases to go, so does anybody know how long this will last and at what age do they just chill instead of shouting???

My friends son just turned 16 in December, he is moody, also down a lot etc - think it will last for a good while for you guys yet lol

They never grow out of it

stick him in an arm bar?

I have 3 boys, 19, nearly 14 and 12.
All are very different.......eldests mood swings started at around 10 years old, middle and youngest have both just begun the terrible teens together

eldest has left home now but still is very moody and prone to outbursts.I find the hardest thing to cope with is the rage against each other which spills over towads me and their dad. They are soon put firmly back in their place and sent to their rooms to cool off........half an hour later they will reappear as if nothing has happened. Its hard not to react to them and I often find myself going down to their level and mouthing back......never a good idea as it just makes things worse, but Im highly volatile myself at times
Just be there if he needs to talk and be aware of when he needs to be alone.......good luck sweet, I know its hard work x

Im really scared about my son going through the hormonal bit.... he's 11 now and just starting, and Im really worried that Im not going to be able to help him at all. My parents beat me to hell and back when I was a teenager (and a child), so although I refuse to lay a hand on my boys, I have nothing to compare it with?
Im just worried that he'll look back on his teenage years and think I wasnt any kind of help

as I said above....as long as you are there when he needs you....and know when to step back when he doesnt, it is hard as all our kids are different and all need handling different ways. Dont worry, Im sure your doing a fine job and he will look back and apprecite it x

Just rry to remember whatever the moods that its quite normal and is nothing to do with your parenting skills, there really is no easy answer except to try and be understanding but also dont let them take you for a muppet. good luck this parenting malarky is hard work x

damned right its hardwork sassie!

My sons still young so I haven't got to worry about this just yet but god its worrying just reading some of your comments!! ekk!!

I would say from being a very hormonal and volitile teenager the best thing is to let them know you are always there to talk to, that there emotions are normal and not to be feared, for all you women who have carried babies you know how scary your own hormones can be!

The only other things I can advise is a diary, get him one with a pad lock or something to know its perfectly safe and promise (and stick to it) never ever to read it but its somewhere to write how he's feeling, whats going on in his head and how he wants things to work out x Make sure he knows that anytime he's ready or wants some advise and to talk you are there x Perhaps set up a code word that is just you and him so he can say it and you know what he wants.......just you x x

No idea if this is any help but I know how I got through it so just thought I would share x x

good luck ladies and Im thinking of you x x
