the excorcist
the strangers scared the **** out of me aswell at some parts.
the ring
invasion of the body snatchers (one of the view older horror movies that i find quite scary)
dog soldiers
texas chainsaw massacre - original and the remake
the blair witch project
darkness falls
event horizon - very gory
sphere
the amityville horror (original)

sixth sense

Ichi the Killer

Dead Snow - a 2009 film, Nazi Zombies terrorise a group snow boarders etc, just good fun

Some great oldies - The Thing, Near dark, Jacobs Ladder, Evil dead 1 and 2, Nightmare on Elm street 1, Halloween (78 version), Wicker man (73 version), Blair Witch project, The deep
And more recently - Drag me straight to Hell...forget all the torture porn and for the 'proper' horror LOL!

been a long time since i saw a good horror, not much phases me

recently saw drag me to hell - disappointed

the hills have eyes gave me goosebumps, but only cos of the gross rape scene, eurgh

ye the story is teasing but the ending is "lol-able" lol

as per OP, hollywood dont do Asian horror movies remakes (the ring, the grugde, one missed call, a tale of tow sisters (Jesica alba's the univited)) for no reasons... but i guess everyone has their own taste of scariness lol

the entity is pretty darn scary (for me anyway, lol)
