Hotels near legoland or Chessington World of Adventure

Hi there. Was hoping someone could offer advice on affordable hotels close to either Legoland or Chessington World of Adventure. We are a family of 4 (2 adults, a 5 year old and 2 year old). We want to use our merlin passes to visit one of these theme parks at the end of July. We have found cheap flights and car hire but hotels are very expensive. We would be hoping to stay tonight's. Anyone recommend anywhere they have stayed within a short drive to either of the theme parks. Not looking for anything fancy just clean and near enough to visit one of the parks. Thanks in advance.

Premier Inn, just a five minute drive from the theme park and has a Beefeater next door
We used the Travelodge at terminal 5. Not too far a drive, and all in all a very nice, and inexpensive stay.
Are you a member of the Merlin Pass holders group on Facebook? They're an excellent source for stuff like this!

We're off to Thorpe Park tomorrow. Can't wait

Do you get much use out of your passes? We get at least 3 trips in a month...!
We stayed at Hilton St Anne's Manor Bracknell when we went to Legoland. Very nice hotel and reasonably priced when booked in advance.

Only went for odd weekends

Only went for odd weekends and especially teachers inset days
got the merlin passes in January usually about £100 each
always bought premium to go in the summer holidays and free car parking
For Legoland we stayed at Travel lodge. Bracknell. We got lucky with a £25 family room but ate our breakfast any tea at the premier Inn beefeater near by. The travelodge is a little old but a quite location with little chance of stag and hen parties using it.

Have a good time which is your favourite ride?
mine is Colossus at Thorpe or nemesis at alton towers
at least with merlin passes you get in early and
Many people don’t realise that on busy days Thorpe Park opens at 9.30am thus giving you extra time on the rides before the queues begin.

Hi thanks for all the replies. This is our first time buying Merlin Passes (we used Tesco Club card points to get two of them and then buying a 3rd pass in the current Merlin sale). We live in Scotland so each of the parks are a long distance away so we probably wont get as much use as we would like but still think they will be worth the money. We are visting Alton Towers for 2 nights next month and hoping to visit Chessington World of Advenuture in July also. Might visit Legoland in October and will probably visit Blackpool and use the passes at the tower at least once.

I will have a look at the recommended hotels and hopefully get something booked soon. Thanks again for taking the time to offer advice.
For Chessington World of Adventures, you can try looking at prices for Travelodge at Tolworth Tower (Ewell Rd), short drive from the theme park.

There is also Travelodge Epsom (Station approach), again short drive away.

There is a Premier Inn being built next to Tolworth Station (Kingston Rd) but not sure when it is due to be completed by so you may need to look into that further when you know your dates.

Finally - Holiday Inn Kingston South on Portsmouth Rd is also not far to drive to theme park considering you will have hire car.

The hotels closer to the theme park may be more expensive then some of these I've suggested.

Good Luck
Try the George Inn in Eton. I met some Americans there last week who were visiting legoland and they said it was good. There is a free bus from Windsor to Legoland which is only a 2 minute walk. And no car needed.
don't forget there is the lego discovery centre in Manchester which is 'a bit' closer to you.
