House HiPS, can someone help me,

I was told the other day by an estate agent that the Home Information Pack (HiP) is £300, but i have seen an advert on the net for someone doing one for around £170, can someone enlighten me to this situation as I was told it was a fixed fee of £300 everywhere?
    Thanks in advance

As far as I know they can vary in price, last year I could have got one done for around £200.

    Finding a HIP provider

"If you are commissioning a HIP, you should shop around as prices vary, and check the terms and conditions of your contract. You should always make sure that your HIP provider is signed up to a code of practice, like the HIP Code."

Depends on your house value think up to £100,000 is £300+vat also energy report cost about £75

Didnt think your house value came into it. We contacted a few HIP providers and were never asked this.
