    house survey

Our buyer just had a home buyer survey done on our house. The surveyer has left small but noticeable holes in the bottom of the walls downstairs (I assume whilst checking for damp). Is this normal? If the sale falls through I'll need to fill and paint the holes which can't be right?

Any advice or experiences anyone can share?

Have you got damp ? Pretty sure unless you were told about this you should be able to recoop some money to repair the holes. how big are they ?

The damp meter has two probes a couple of inches apart? Holes should not have been left in obvious parts of the wall, photograph the damage and email his office.

they broke my glass light cover when they did the survey at my house. so annoying but i didn't raise it.

We're currently buying a house and I don't think the building survey left any holes (not been informed anyway) however the mundic block testing T&C informed the sellers that holes would be drilled and samples taken and they would fill the holes with concrete but would not do any touch ups, painting or finishing.

And FYI home buyers surveys are not needed and should pretty much disregarded as they will put stuff that doesn't exist on the report to cover themselves in the future.
They will say damp/insect infestation etc etc is not present but cannot be guaranteed not to appear in the future ie it might rain or it might not.

If he suspected it visually he probably found it. Wait before you fix two small holes, you may well have the whole wall to replace.

Thanks all for the info. The holes are noticeable, I've photographed them and depending on what happens in the future I'll raise a complaint. @thedvdmonster yes I agree on the reports, we've not bothered on our purchase. @wolf47wolf he commented on how dry the house was for an Edwardian terrace & it's been done on every wall so wasn't just confirming a suspicion. Again, thanks all.

Isn't it just easier to fill and paint them. Probably a five minute job at most oO
