How angry do you get with your iPod?

A few months ago I reluctantly purchased a 160gb iPod Classic and all I get is grief.
As the working week draws to a close I once again see the database error and this time lose 114gb of music, despite it still physically occupying the hard disc.

Why on earth is iTunes unable to scan the drive and rebuild the database?
Why does it not periodically backup its ridiculous database system?

Nothing pleases me more than seeing a spinning wheel and awaiting the inevitable, knowing another weekend of double importing (iTunes/iPod) and organisation awaits.

Does this sort of thing not drive people nuts? How is such a stupid piece of hardware the market leader...

    Rant over.

As an iRiverH340 owner i'm well aware of the joys of Rockbox.
Sadly (and amazingly) nobody has managed to defeat the Classic security :x

my ipod touch randomnly tells me that its in recovery mode. I found that the error only comes up if its really low on charge.
I hated the itunes set up but have made a compromise seeing as nobody else has created an mp3 thats as smooth and cool as the touch yet.

Naturally I have everything archived, the main problem is sifting through a terrabyte of albums and then organising everything (such as tags) so they appears correctly on the iPod.

I don't trust an automated program with fixing the art/tags correctly.

iTunify does it well on a mac. It's quite manually controlled so will still take you time but will probably save you more. I use it all the time.

What's the best one for the PC?

Preferably something that will edit the filename from 01 Track 1 and also the ID3 data?
