How can I tether from iPhone undetected?

As above, I have an unlimited data package but giffgaff know when I'm tethering.

    Done that already

    Use app pdanet

Do a youtube search for it it'll show you step by step instructions on which sources to add etc

    Pretty easy though

A network engineer told me ages ago that they cannot actually detect from the packets that you're tethering.

yes they can ... it's actually based on hardware information and its very basic and not easy to mask.... and I'm not going to explain here how because I totally agree with why they do it

If a subscriber wants unlimited mobile broadband and to tether then pay the price - that is the fair way.

this who want something for nothing hog bandwidth they are not paying for ... if everyone did it the networks would not cope.

Forgive my ignorance, but if I use 5gb on my phone, or tether 1gb on my laptop, why would they only block my laptop?

Also, I find the word 'unlimited' a little bit misleading. If you're entitled to use as much as you want, what difference does it make what device those 1's and 0's are going to?

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but if I have an allowance of 1gb, surely it should not matter what the 1gb is for?

I think their theory was that people would use less data when on their phone compared to their laptop, you may use more on your phone than your laptop but I image it would be very difficult to stop some people and let others tether.
