How can I turn Amazon credit into cash ?

So I had a replacement voucher from my insurance company which was applied directly to my Amazon account

Long story short I would really prefer the cash as there is not really anything on Amazon I need at the moment and the cash could always help with household bills etc...

I tried purchasing gift card's which I thought I could sell but then discovered you cannot purchase gift cards with credit

My second idea was see if I can find somebody local (family or friends) who needs something large, buy it for them and then have the cash from them, but nobody needs anything

Can anyone here think of any idea's how I can achieve my aim ?

Thanks for reading

buy stuff
sell the stuff

It's a shame they have applied it to your account (I don't even understand how they could, but that's not really relevant). Gift vouchers would have been easier to deal with than a gift balance.

You could argue that you would have preferred actual vouchers with your insurance people. Or ask Amazon for a refund, though I think both those things are unlikely.

Perhaps there's something else you could buy and sell on?

jco83, yes there is that, but it's knowing what 'stuff' is best to buy and won't depreciate too much when I try re sell it

I have no idea what is hot and easy to move on these days

Or you could try dropshipping
where you advertise something on ebay and when someone buys it you have it sent directly to them from Amazon

But remember there will be a fee for transferring money from your PayPal to your bank

Why not buy the replacement that the insurance company paid out for?

they didn't really specify which I was to choose, just that I could choose whatever I wanted and spend it on whatever I wanted, his words

How much money are you talking about here?
You could pass it by the mods, offer a drop ship idea on the Fs/Ft thread.

Approximately £1500, I already bought 1 item which I am returning which will put it just over £1500

I think I will go down the drop ship on eBay route that jc03 suggested

Can't you must be in possession of the item they have for sale.

Besides if the insurance was for something that you can get on Amazon like a broken TV then surely they will replace it?

I am aware of the rules and would never dream of breaking them, I am only asking for suggestions

No they didn't offer like for like, they found an item on Amazon of similar specification to my old one and provided me a voucher which was applied to my account, they told me to enjoy my shopping spree (their words)

No drama please, I got the advice I wanted, thank you for the replies, please close this now

Be prepared to get conned on flea bay though. Fees, con-artists etc.

Fees will be a killer!

How about just spend it on Amazon!?

They sell everything and you don't need to spend it all now. You can buy food and booze and household products. You will have spent it by Xmas and made use of its full value.

Stop watching TV, that's £140 right there X) Or stop watching TV, use your credit to buy Prime and watch Amazon Prime stuff instead and save £61.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

It's not even possible to "automatically" add credit onto an Amazon account without applying a code unless Amazon directly credited your account for a purchase.

I see, well you shouldn't have really accepted it from the insurer and demanded cash, very odd. I would just spend it over time on anything you may need I guess...or find some of the rare hot Amazon offers and maybe sell on Ebay for more.

Risk here will be that the buyer doesn't receive the goods (or claims not to have received the goods) then difficult to sort out.

But if you had had bought a new TV or they had done a replacement surely you had already made provision for the above? So can't see that that is relevant.

Your best bet is to use the credit yourself over time or wait until your friends and family need to buy something. Christmas is near so you should be able to spend a lot of the money then.

I find that amazon is not always the cheapest, so you could buy the goods for your friends and family but charge them the lower price that they may find somewhere else that they would otherwise buy their stuff. This way, you don't have to wait until they need to use amazon specifically.
