How come the only budget tvs this year are just rubbish brands and all the others are £700+?

I fail to understand how the market has decided that the new 'budget price' is double last year's price? Anything under £300 is now either JVC or HiSense or, probably Polaroid.

Who decided that everyone could suddenly afford double the price for a tv?
