How could I sell the contents of my house?

I wasn't quite sure where to post this, so mods, feel free to move if it's in the wrong place.

I am moving to Oz and therefore have ALOT of items to sell-from DVDs and CDs to a Wii and PS2 to beds and lawn mowers.

I have listed everything in an excel spreadsheet with around 8 different sections (we have a whole house to clear!). My question is could sell these things on here and what would be the best way to do it? I have photos of all the items I have that I could load onto Photobox.

Many thanks

Entertainment
Furniture
Gardening
ETC

There maybe shops etc in your area that offer house clearings for cash also if it gets tiredsome listing it all on likes here,eBay etc.

sell your wii - games dvds on here or ebay - furniture and stuff - have a house / garage sale!! print off some posters put in local shops - and your local paper - free ads

you're gonna wanna expire this soon as you realise what u gotta do x x

ask a mod to do that for you too as you're gonna have to wait a set amount of time before you're allowed to put the stuff up for sale x x

i would also try www.gumtree.com

why dont you have an 'open house [email protected] like a garage sale, we moved to OZ (3 times) and we sold lots of stuff but also stored a lot of things at mothers attic and friend garages, we were so glas we did when we came back.
Good luck, where are you moving, we have lived in Adelaide and my favourite place - the Gold Coast

Where are you based? My hubby is moving to Germany and we are looking for "student" type things like fridge, microwave, etc etc

Do this though it's more commonly known a 'yard' sale Americanism sorry. Advertise in the papers and on the street that you'll be holding open house/yard sale as you are moving to Australia and everything must go. I'd come but probably not close enough.

I would agree with this, but dont expect to get anything near what you paid for the stuff. If people know you are getting rid of EVERYTHING they are likely to take the pee when it comes to offers because they think you are desperate.

Unless you are sure you will be staying I would put it in storage. Friends of ours moved to Australia (seems common!) and sold most things in their house. Were there less than 6 months and decided to come back, had to buy everything again. Sold virtually brand new bunk beds for about £50 because thats all they could get for them, lots similar to that but thats one I can think of at the moment

Thanks. I was thinking of an 'open house/garage sale' but don't think we're in the best place for it. We're moving to Melbourne.

I've had a look on here, seems that our closest one is about 40 miles away though.

The prices you are likely to get will be dreadful.

You could ship a container to Oz for around 2 - 3k.

Would save you money in the long run.

We don't want to ship things out until we know we're going to stay. We're only in our early/mid
20s, so a lot of our things are disposable and we want to raise money for the move and we're also backpacking for a while before we land in Oz, so it's not really an option.

We are in South wales. If you list things on here with a few pics (its free) you will get a idea of what may sell. Like i said if you list stuff i'm after i am interested.
