How do I cast laptop screen to Smart TV?

Found 23rd Sep 2016
Not technically minded so please bare with me!

I have a Sony Vaio laptop and I'd like to cast my laptop screen to my Samsung Smart TV.

Can I do this over wifi somehow or do I need to add some hardware to my laptop?

Thanks in advance

You can cast the whole screen to a Chromecast, not just the chrome browser.

Do you have intel WIDI on your laptop?

New method also which personally I find great although must be Windows 10 OS.
Press the "speech bubble" looking icon on the bottom right of your desktop normally just beside date/time. The press the "Connect" option. Windows will then look for any wireless screens which you can connect to which most DNLA TV's should appear. If a device appears simply press on the device and away you go.

Thanks for the recommendation, I didn't know that option was there. However, when I click on CONNECT, it says 'Your PC doesn't support Miracast, so cannot project wirelessly' - any idea what I need to add for it to support 'Miracast''?

Like I said, check to see if your Laptop supports WIDI. If it does then you can install the drivers and version 3.5 makes WIDI miracast compatible.
