Which programmes?

limewire,and virgin pcguard

for windows XP system (and probably vista etc.) the best bet is:

Start -> Run -> msconfig

Click on the Startup Tab.

This shows all the programs that load up on startup, which then you can deselect the ones you don't want to, and keep the ones you do.

Dependent on your laptop, there may be some applications that are required (like quick keys), and I take no responsibility if things go wrong. Also keep to the Startup tab, as playing with the others could make your laptop become unresponsive on bootup (which isn't fun)

also the applications that show on the start up tab, go a Google Search on them to see what they are, and who they belong to. From this, you can decide if you want to keep it, or remove it for startup.

there are a lot you can do:
the easiest

Click Start, type msconfig in the start search tab, click startup tab, uncheck the program you want to remove from startup (In XP START - RUN - type msconfig)

or START - CONTROL PANel - CHANGE STARTUP Programs

its built-in with Windows Defender...
so i think (but nor sure) if you installed defender on ur XP you'll have that function

i know XP is in many ways preferable than vista,
but its a bundled thing... so i didt t have a choice really

in xp run msconfig click startup and then choose programs you wish to change
