What colour is it? What sized hard drive did it come with? Did it come with a wired or wireless controller?

    huh?

does it have a silver disc tray on the front and you'll probably be asked what was the manufacturing date (its on the sticker on the back) as well?

ouch, an oldie. if it hasn't suffered rrod he's lucky its lasted this long. if it does have a silver tray then he'll have the premium 20gb (assuming he hasn't cnaged the hard drive) version and if its not then an old arcade/core.

    Worth circa £10, if that......

Does it have a hard drive? It will be attached to the side of the console if it does.

    Switch on the Xbox>My Xbox>System settings>Memory>Hard Drive>Press "Y"

It will tell you the capacity.
I think a 20GB has about 15GB Capacity that can be used.

My sons is a 120GB, and it shows 107GB
