How do I use the London Underground with contactless card?

Ive done some 'research and it says to to swipe in and out of each station. Therefore if for example I am going from Euston station Underground to South Kensington via Green Park, do I just swipe in at Euston and swipe out at South Kensington.

    TIA. First timer.

No you just swipe in at first station and out at last station.

    Thank you.

You could interpret their advice as saying that you have to get off at each station the train stops at at swipe before getting back on. Fortunately that's not the case!

    That's what I thought. Thanks.

Just remember to swipe out!! If not you will get charged for the full journey! ie the last stop on the line!

The only time that you swipe your card while you are in transit is when you see a pink Oyster card reader on the train platform. They are there to show London Transport that you took the cheaper route of those available to get to your destination.

Sorry to jump on this. But always wondered, is there a max cost per day. Say you visit zones 1-7 there is a limit per day using the oyster card. Is this the same with a regular debit contactless card?

    Yes.

Thanks. Helps when i forget my oyster card next time.

Also worth noting if you do forget to touch the contactless point when you exit and get charged the full fare you can always correct the journey after the event and if appropriate you'll get a refund. All can be done via tfl.gov.uk/con…ess.

Just a tip - I find that touching in and out with Contactless credit cards opens the gates fractionally slower than when using an actual Oyster card, so I always try to use a ticket gate where no-one else is directly in front of me so that i can be sure my card is the one that has opened the gate, not the card of the person in front.
