How do we solve a problem like Pakistan?

    Strong links to terrorism

Millions spent on its nuclear weapons programme, therefore unable to help its own citizens when a natural disaster occurs

    Corrupt sportsmen

Lack of law and order in the country as a whole

Innocents being killed by radical islamic bombers all the time

I think its time for the international community to start taking some sort of sanctions....start small but get serious if they don't comply.

    Opinions?

is there anything anyone can actually do to change things.. ?

Send Oprah Winfrey, never cared much for her, failing that, Jeremy Kyle

i think you will find the government doesnt support terrorism and infact Pakistan is a Major non-NATO ally of the United States.

believes what? that the government directly supports terrorism or that the US is a ally?

i think the government shouldnt have sent 50 million to aid the disaster in case it ended up in the wrong hands they should have sent aid workers that way they would have got vat back on the meds and equipment used in a year when the nhs destroyed millions of vaccines that wasnt needed

The problem is that there's a real danger of some areas of the country falling under Taliban control in light of these floods.

That's the type of country we're dealing with here.

This is the national team though Phil, more serious IMO

We of course spend millions on defences but don't leave our citizens in poverty without basic needs....if they had spent the nuclear programme money on healthcare or the infrastructure i am sure they wouldn't be in as much of a mess as they are in now.

I agree with the op section

First things first boothy: please define Pakistan, and don't say it's a country, because if you do, I'll just ask what's a country! I want you to define the constituent parts that equate Pakistan. Secondly, please define your understanding of the problem. Using vague labels will make it very hard to make a decent attempt to answer your question, so please prove as much specific and relevant information as you can, although preferably all specific and relevant information.

the nuclear programme is important for the security of pakistan. There is tension between pakistan and india and the only thing stopping those two countries from going to war with each other is the fact they both have nuclear weapons.

To be honest, its a shame that people want to suggest its nuclear program is more important than the welfare of its citizens. Whilst there might be tensions with India, to the best of my knowledge, their residents haven't been crossing the border and blowing up hotels and maiming people. This terrorism is one way traffic over borders to the south and north.

Your argument works if you are talking about India needing them as a deterrent. I don't believe it applies in the reverse as you've suggested.

Windhoek, you are posing questions to a person who believes in sanctioning of an entire nation with corruption in sport as one reason. The same person believes in sanctions being imposed, where the people currently require multilateral aid. Do you really expect someone with such a vague philosophy and injudicial knowledge of affairs of state really understands, in depth, the questions you are asking?

Yes, but the other reason given is even more jaw-dropping - the contradiction in that sanctions should be imposed due to lack of national government help, so it's a case of punish the nation by imposing sanctions for the ostensible reason of their government imposing sanctions in an indirect manner!

So what do you think the best method to control the corruption, stop the terrorism and educate the government that the needs of its people are not served by spending all the silver on a Nuclear Weapon program without being able to afford all the essentials.

Whoa! I am not convinced of anything that has been purported in the media. Corruption amongst our own government is conveyed across the media. The thought of even imposing sanctions when it has been accused indirectly that the Pakistani government have achieved a similar result on their own people is really not an adroit thing to say. Have you forgotten Haiti?
