Its an old film, it wont be in true HD just an upscaled version.

there no TV out on your PC?

I use mkv2vob + PS3. The movie can be burnt on disc, erternal hdd, usb drive or streamed.

Its how I have been watching Lost in HD

wrong!

it will be in HD

even older recording equipment could record in HD (even surpassing it)

will have to agree with prox on this 1. they've been filming in stupidly high quality in years. but have always toned it down for our tv screens. hd and blu-ray quality itself is dumbed down aswell. alot of the movie recording equipment records at stupid resolutions like 50mega pixel now.

Correct. You can can get a much higher resolution from film than what we know as HD.
The wife quite happily watched Breakfast at Tiffany's in HD on Sky last night. (very good pic considering how old the film is!)

after blu ray will there be the technology to display these even higher quality resolutions that films are filmed in?

Blu ray is only the start - high def is kinda of declining in japan its old hat really that why UHD is coming in i believe they are trying to broadcast it in 2015 in japan

The reason high def has just come hee is because we are behind by like 10 years

High def tvs have been around since the 80's but it was so expensive and arduous that its taken 20 odd years to become mainstream and affordable

I think in 2050 tvs will be gone it will all be projection

atm hd isnt that amazingly different

give it like 10-20 years then everything will be amazing
technology have advanced so much in 8 years its amazing

bring on robots and human clones

sometimes i wish i was in japan. bet they have stuff like tony stark does in the ironman film :-P

Convert files to WMV-HD and burn them to disk. You can then play them in a ps3 or xbox360

Theres an old saying, you can't get blood out of a stone.
An avg hd file (1080p) is 13Gb-18Gb, this will not go on a dvd without out converting it and losing some of the quality so then it won't be HD

You can get hd media on dvd. You can compress blu ray and hd dvd down to around 8.5 gig so it would fit on a dvd and still get hd quality.

hey man what do you think of that amazon HDD?

I think its goood! reads SDHC cards and the card reader works even when the drive isn't plugged into the mains!

An AVG file that's the same length as a full length DVD won't fit on a DVD without loss of quality. If you've got one that's half the length it'll be half the size and will fit on DVD.

Assuming you are talking 1080p not the naff 720p stuff that sky is knocking out;
Compression don't make me laugh the hdd/blue rays are already compressed to a very high level i would guess re-compressing them with "newer" more efficient codecs will give you maybe 10% space saving @same length, same frame rate and resolution

Intelligent compression drops frames and pixels, it will not be hd, there is no way round it, plus only dual layer dvds which can only take 8.4gb minus overheads
What you are saying is i can take a digital picture with my xda's 0.3 mp camera and it will be as good as the wainwright i'm looking at ,
trust me i've been messing with this 18mths now and have many blue ray/hdd rips on hdd
