Police knock on the door asking awkward questions

Do you mean you think somebody is using your Wireless?

Or you've been hijacked or along the lines?

yes i think someone maybe using my wireless ?? how can you tell

well ive just got bt and one of the cds that they send is a a programme which tells you which ones are on your network so for me it shows the pcs and the laptop if someone else was on it would show

Firstly, either trying going to bthomehub.home/ or 192.168.1.254/ (Could be 192.168.0.1) too - whichever works.

Then login using your BTHub username/password(I think) then trying locating what should be 'Wireless Settings' if they're off/disabled you'll have to use a security measure. (WPA/WPA2-WEP)

Have a go at that and tell me how far you got. I've never used a BTHub but what I said there should be about right.

If you have got a security setting, please state what it is as it could be being comprimised.

In most router settings, their should be something that says 'attatched devices' which will obviously only show when another device is attacted.

If you don't understand anything just let me know and I'll try my best to help ya.

Someone with a BTHub or who knows about them might be able to help easier btw.

The symptoms you describe doesn't sound like someone is on your wireless connection, it sounds more like there's a problem on your PC itself. If someone is using your wireless network you're likely to notice slower network performance and activity on the router when no-one else is active.

it comes up with nothing on my wireless but one on ethernet cable which im using, my kids have webbooks but they arnt show do they only show when connected (or on)

Yeah.

Like John says. The issue doesn't sound wireless related. Could you make sure the products you use for scanning are all updated?

Also if you could please say what anti-virus/anti-spy/malware ect scanners you use. As you might be using a rogue scanner.

Thanks.

the passwords not being remembered has happened to us after we updated windows and now have to log in all the time ANNOYING.we are on homehub too.

We periodically get the same problem on our homehub, and lose all our saved info. I know it's properly security password protected and no one else can use it, so I guess it's a BT thing. Saying that though we now have a BT Open Zone hotspot near enough to log onto and my lappy tries to connect to this everytime in preference to our home hub, tres annoying and I only know because it seems slower. We live in the suburbs of a rural city so goodness knows why we're by a hotspot, the nearest shops are about a mile away.

get rid of AVG for starters

AVG is useless these days. Loads of people on here have reported long term viruses that AVG happily let through, Go for Avast, Avira or MS Essentials instead

We had the same after updating some days it remembers but then you shut the computer down for the night and in the morning it has forgotten everything.

use firefox and the add-on
LastPass Password Manager

LastPass is a free online password manager and Form Filler that makes your web browsing easier and more secure. LastPass supports IE and Firefox as Plugins (Opera, Safari, Chrome, iPhone, Opera Mini via Bookmarklets), allows you to import from every major password storage vendor and export too, captures passwords that other managers won't including many AJAX forms, and allows you to make strong passwords easily. Your sensitive data is encrypted _locally_ before upload so even LastPass cannot get access to it. One Time Passwords & Screen Keyboard help protect your master password.
