Plug your old one in ....... Just right click and press delete.

i dont know if there is a easier way but I would try to connect your old IPOD to Itunes and select all songs CTRL + A then right click and delete
then sync it and it should update the library without any songs in it

What you do, is get a chizzle and a hammer and gently work the chizzle into the back of the ipod. Once into the ipod hack at the internal parts and all will be solved.

On a similar subject, is there a way to transfer all 40gb of material from an old ipod to a larger capacity new one?

what ipod are you selling - I think I broke mine on the weekend - it just keeps saying 'battery very low please wait' now

I'm borrowing a mains charger for it tomorrow to see if that and a load of resets will get it into dick mode so I can charge the stupid thing up enough to boot but if that fails I'll be after a new one.
