how do you wash a waterproof ski jacket??

my very pleasent cat has decided he would pee in the arm of my waterproof ski jacket and now I dont know how to wash it whilst preserving the waterproof-ness! Im thinking of buying the waterproofing stuff from a ski shop but does this actually work? would hate to get on the slopes and end up with a frostbitten body cos it didnt work lol

    :w00t: good point.

As far as I'm aware, a cool wash is the way to go. Below 30.

I've washed my SprayWay jacket before with an in-wash waterproofer and that did the job. Have a look at Go Outdoors, Millets etc - they should all sell this stuff. I also sprayed on a waterproofer afterwards just to be safe.

wipe it down with a damp cloth.

I use a similar product that I get from my local camping shop

Should be fine in the washing machine - I've washed waterprrof clothing lots of times. It's the fabric it's made of that makes it waterproof, not the way the fabric has been treated.

hi, you need to wash with pure soap first, no biological or 2in 1 powders, either Lux or soap flakes will do, i wouldn1`t do it in the machine, as the biological powders can contaminate the fabric and any waterproofer will not work. Then spray with nikwax waterproofer until it has soaked into the fabri, let it air dry and it should be fully waterproofed again.

Nikwax or Graingers - both are good.

I always prefer using Nikwax to clean my ski clothing. It works really great on water proof ski clothes. At times when it is difficult for me to clean them that time I prefer going for location ski saint lary ski rentals.
