How do young people expect to get insured when they have passed there test

When the insurance is £3500! its ridiculous, how can any 17 year old afford that (apart from the kfc). its just stupid

not all cars cost £3500 to insure - what you want to insure, an Impreza??

After reading your previous threads, I applaud any insurance company that gives you a sky-high premium.
The roads will be much safer.

Get a sensible car then ?

If you want a cheaper premium don't buy a boy-racer mobile (saxo, corsa etc)

where abouts do you live? any points or convictions?

Did you give your postcode as Beirut?

Usually when the premiums are this high on sensible cars, it means the company don't want to take the risk on you.

Find one that specializes in young drivers, and it will come down - probably still over a grand though.

Best bet is to buy a banger - insure 3rd party only, build up no claims, then after about 2 or 3 years, get a nice car.

Chances are, you'll have had any accidents that, as a young male driver, you will have had.

    Happy days!!

I totally agree however it does mean there will be more uninsured drivers on the roads because young drivers can't afford it.

    go on admiral.com

add ur mum and dad as 2nd and 3rd named drivers, my premium is £800 a year for an astra 1.8 sri and im 19(H)

EDIT: I am the main driver on the policy

Any Previous? Is that as a Provisinal License or Full?

    New Corsa or Old Corsa?

    Back in 1997 I paid £1200 For a 1989 F-Reg Fiesta....

Insurance is expensive when you first start driving, makes some moronic 17yr Male drivers think twice about driving like a Cupid Stunt (man am I gonna get struck down for that :-D )

Haha, urm yes I have. You know my personal details now do you? I expect you'll be telling me I don't also have 5year no claims but I do have 3 eyes?

Ive been the policy holder the whole time. with a p reg vauxhall astra. It isnt the best looking car, but 1.4, surprisingly speedy, roomy and exaclty what I need. Get charged more as they class it as a category 6 sports car (wtf) otherwise it would be about £300

    That's because you're a girl

Dean my first car was a £75 fiesta 1.1 and yeah it was gay but everyone's first car is gay was back in 2002 btw. Cost something like £800 third party fire and theft with Tesco, I got 10% staff discount and 0% APR on the monthly instalments for the insurance. It failed it's MoT but lasted 6 months

i was in the same boat as u when i started driving. ive got a 1.2L Clio Extreme 2004, and the car cost £3600 and insurance companies wanted 3000.
i called norwich union, and asked for 'open driving', put my dad as named driver, and any one with a licence can drive my car fully comp for £500 a year (unnamed)
im not bothered about no claims bonus anyway, i will save £1000's the way im doing it, because when you get to like 23 it plummets anyway.
. anywho, this year, upon renewal, it was only £300.

    >its just stupid

Sorry, but "its" not stupid, but many 17 year old drivers are.

So many stupid young men kill their girlfriends in car accidents a special web site has been set up just for that one topic.

    fmg.org.uk/

    And look at these facts

"Young drivers are hugely over-represented in collision and traffic fatality statistics. On average, over 1,800 young male drivers and over 1,000 female passengers are killed or seriously injured in road traffic collisions in the UK every year. Male drivers aged 17-24 are three times as likely to be killed or seriously injured as a female driver"

It's 25 not 23, you are driving illegally by having your dad as the named driver as a colleague at work found out. He got his car impounded, 6 points on his license and now has to retake the extended driving test. Good luck with your money saving scheme :whistling:

Yeh but lets be honest, women know how to drive

But seriously, 90% Of the racers here in nottingham are lads, who must be on benefits to afford the petrol they waste driving up and down. Same back home, very few girls find fun in driving in circles with music pumping, and I reckon RTA stats would back me up.
