    How does this complaint sound?

    Dear Customer Relations,
Hopefully Im writing to the correct department. Yesterday afternoon (16th of Nov) my 4 year old son requested some packs of go gos crazy bones. I didnt know where to buy them from but he pointed out the Whsmiths store in ****************. We went into the store but couldnt see them behind the counter. Sadly we made the mistake of asking the member of staff serving at the main counter. He knew the product my son was asking for but explained we have sold out.It doesnt matter what you call them anyway because there all a load of s**t anyway
Sadly I didnt get his name due to me being so shocked. But I can go back into the store and request his name if that is of any use to you.
My son was very upset about the whole situation, as was I.
I did manage to find some of the go gos from a local news agents.
Is it possible for you to explain your member of staffs shocking language?

    He was only being truthful.

Sounds fine. Wait for the normal people to come in and complain about your letter.

I was being smart, sorry

put what he said in speech marks :? how you have wrote it makes it sound less like youre quoting him, more like thats the impression you got from him....

or if you cant remember the exact wording he used at least put s**t in inverted commas

    +1

Also why was your son upset? Not by the language obviously as that would tend to point to him knowing what the word **** meant (j'accuse), so that leaves the item being sold out. Can't blame the member of staff for that really......

And if you're serious about it then go back and get his name before you send the letter, there could be any number of male assistants work there.

not a bad job considering your son is 4. Did you help him write any of it or is it all his own work?

Whether he is telling the truth or not, or whether or not the 4 year old was offended or shocked because of his mothers/father reactions is irrelevant.

He represents the company and has to follow a code of conduct.:)

    Agree.

I'd love to see the reaction some of the whinners would perform if a mod swore at them. There would be uproar.:whistling:

I'd get the assistants name too BEFORE you send the letter,a bit of a waste of time really unless you do.

Working for many customer service based companies including supermarkets I would be suprised if they were not annoyed and went down the disciplinary proceedures for swearing to a customer no matter the manor. Let's face it when you got an irrate customer it's so hard to not raise your temper to them, when there clearly taking the michael.

    Were not on about you

I do actually deal with the public occasionally, my idea of CS with a difficult punter is to have the off with them  Had a lovely argument with one bloke a few weeks back over a H&S issue. I eventually accepted his apology :whistling:

I have to admit though, I didn't swear at him or to him. I only do that to friends etc, but if the public hear me, well they shouldn't be such nosy ********.

Guilty of that, when I didn't work at home.

    Customers can be idiots .:)

    The customers always right:whistling:

It's a good start. Make it more serious (tone), use better grammar, and quotation marks for the CS assistants phrase.

Like others have pointed out, a name would be handy, if not a description of the staff member is useful just to back up your claim.

Kudos to you for complaining, his behaviour was unacceptable

I agree ^^^ it needs something more,it's not stern enough.

I would put that you find it unacceptable for a member of staff to use foul language.

Is that really swearing these days... Even on here the word crap, which is no more offencive to the word he used, is acceptable.
Do you really want to get this poor guy the sack?
If you know he's not the best assistant to help you, why ask him in the first place..

I say give the guy a break.. let it drop.

    thanks for the advice peeps

Absolutely disgusting behaviour. It doesnt matter who he had been speaking to male or female of any age. He is at his work place and should act accordingly. I personally would speak to the store manager.

There are plenty of people who would be happy to take his job who wouldn't think it ok to swear in front of a customer.

My sister and i NEVER swear in front of her children at all for example,i certainly wouldn't accept a shop assistant swearing at them about a product.
