How is the 'heat' on deals calculated?

Been wondering this for a while. I've noticed that when adding heat to someone's deal it doesn't count up in single digits so for example to reach 1000° that deal wasn't voted got by 1000 people. But how is it calculated? Is it percentages?
The other day after adding heat to a deal it jumped up by 15 digits.

Might be for someone with more insight knowledge to answer but maybe someone knows

I think when you vote on a deal it refreshes it to the latest count. As the heat doesnt constantly change with other people voting
At the time you read a deal there will be others doing the same and happen to vote before you do.
Everyone has different numbers for their votes either hot or cold, been around a while and have 7 hot 5 cold think that’s the max, newer users have smaller amounts. If you have a massive cold deal your voting gets hit and it’s been known that some even have their heat taken off them. So as everyone votes at once temperatures can go all over the place.
