How likely are Dialaphone or Mobiles2yourdoor to go bust in the next 12 months?!

Hi guys

Just been researching a new mobile deal and theres some good cashback deals around particularly from the aboce two retailers on 12 month contracts. Just wondering which is the safer company to go with....

I do realise the whole economic climate isn't fantastic and am well prepared in case either of them go bust or something else happens and I don't get my cashback.......

Either one of the might or might not (read the Who believes in Luck? thread below)

lol as true as that is, I was thinking more along the lines of who their parent company is (which I've now found out is Phones4U for both of them....)!

Dialaphone have been going for a very long time know i brought my first phone off them back in 2000 if this help ease your fears.

I've got nothing but good things to say about mobiles2yourdoor I forgot my cashback claim and they called and reminded me...

Most mobile companies are being slightly more generous with their credit ratings than in the last 12 months so that may go for/against them. As you say both of these are owned by phones4U - Mobiles are fairly recession proof in that council estate kids have to spend their dole money on something!

lmao never thought of it like that....! Might just go for the mobiles2yourdoor deal, its £40 per month with 12 months half price.. not a bad offer!

Everyone seems to still want mobile phones. Its not as if they are selling Jaguar cars to the minority.

Dial-A-Phone and Mobiles2YourDoor are both subsidiaries of Phones4U, so you should be pretty safe with either. If both websites offer the same deal though go for dialaphone as they give £60 quidco, and I find their website so much better to use, they even have a section on their website with a calander telling you exactly what bills to send and when to send them.

thanks for this, the deals are different but the dialaphone one is £30 per month so less "risky".
does anyone know if t-mobile roll over unused minutes/texts on the combi 30 plan? their website doesn't mention it (or at least I can't find it!)

I'm on Virgin and they don't have the phone I want.

I'm willing to pay a little more and not deal with the hassle of cashback but am intent on getting a 12 month contract, not 18 or more and all the good "direct" deals are on 18 month contracts........

If you sign up to a tariff with a standard charge which you are happy to pay, then it will not matter if the firm goes bankrupt. You won't get the cashback, but you'll still be on a tariff which suits you.

Thing is you have to remember these are subsidiaries of Phones4u, separate businesses for this reason. They could wind any one of them up, phones4u are not liable for cashback if they wind one of the subsidiaries up.

Common sense but really good advice - good first post!

I disagree.
If the company goes bust. I don't get my cashback and end up paying £40 a month and not £3.33 a month.
£3.33 a month is the Tarrif I'm happy with, not £40.

lol I think what he meant was that sign up to a tariff with the standard charge you're happy with (so make sure you're happy with the £40 per month and count the cashback as a bonus) .... good lukc finding a £3.33 tariff!

I think you missed the point!

Don't forget Quidco either OP... I got a LG Viewty on Vodafone last year, £40 a month 12 Month Contract, £360 cashback over 12 month (in 4 claims) and £40 Quidco...

Sold the phone in FS / FT for £50-£60 I forget which when my fat fingers couldn't work the touchscreen...

Total outlay for the year £30 for 500 minutes and 500 texts a month!

I'm only getting a contract for a new phone, otherwise, I'm happy on my Sim only contract.... good point about quidco though, thanks

just another quick q, didn't want to start a new thread.

when do mobile websites (like dialaphone or mobiles2yourdoor) update their offers? is there a set day weekly or just whenever they feel like it?

thanks!

I've got a friend at Dialaphone who tells me offers are updated throughout the day.
I know they are planning a promo this weekend with some Vodafone deals.
