How long before payment can be taken

I ordered something off the Internet back in November time by credit card but I hadn't been charged, even though the item was delivered in November also, however today they have sent me an email saying that they have been trying to take the funds out of my account but cannot seem to do so.

Do I stand anywhere with regards to a delayed payment? Like have they left it too long to charge me? I'd totally forgotten about the item but it does seem like they never charged me. Haven't got the funds for the item now but just wanted to know!

odd that they shipped before payment cleared, I don't know many companies that'd do that!

Yeah I thought it was odd myself, but I thought I was charged for it, but clearly I wasn't.

Where do I stand? Can I argue this? Is there a law?

Not sure but the same thing once happened to me with amazon. I had the stuff before they had taken payment and then they asked for the money later on. May be worth looking into because if they sent it then thats kind of them accepting that they have had some sort of payment.

Thanks....Has this happend to anyone else? Did Amazon still charge you?

Can I manage to get them to accept its there fault and get away with payment.

once has a similar problem but was paying for something over the counter in a sports shop - didnt debit my account for nearly 2 months.

I would say you have the goods so must arrange payment, if there is something wrong with the original payment, they should at least ask for an alternative method

It happened to me i recieved a mattress from M&S and didn't pay for it till 5 weeks later as they said they couldn't take payment.

As it happens this is from M&S also.

What would you do? I'm not arguing if I dont have a leg to stand on!

Why they would let the goods come out and then charge me is just stupid, I could have left the country by now! I ordered two things and one got charged for and the other didn't. Both were shipped at different times but only to my request so the card was obviously valid previously.

I think they're trying to make it look like an error with my card when its not.

What would you do? Would love some advice on how to approach this?!

    Many thanks

Theres nothing you can do, you have had the goods and they want paying.
You could probably ring them and ask them to wait until your next payday or something though, if you haven't got the money theres not much they can do - if its not much they are hardly likely to start legal action.

I don't understand it either but since you do have the goods and you have not paid for it you will just have to pay for it, I got a letter and a few e-mails form them saying i hadn't paid it, weeks later. I just asummed that they had taken it off.

They said they couldn't accept my card. It was so annoying.:x

It isn't cheap to be honest. I understand I should pay for it but its almost 2-3 months and they're asking for the payment.

I paid for the goods to my knowledge, not some credit plan where i buy now pay 3 months late and my goods arrived. Its just I had been spending quite a bit and my credit card balance looked about right for what I had been buying so didn't check.

Be great if I could wiggle out of it...if anyone has any tips to help me i'd be grateful.

Even some money off wouldn't go a miss but dunno how to approach it!
