I think dcx_badass was being sarcastic! the unlock should be almost instant once conect to Itunes

    spitroast

The question is : How long does Orange take to unlock the phone at their end(server side) once they take your request. It about the time to process the request not how long itunes take

It took them 8 days for mine.

thanks guys. Basically I'm selling the phone in the for sale forum on here but someone has asked me if I'd get it unlocked first.

Upto 2 weeks but usually the first Friday after you've asked for the unlock as that's when Apple put the Orange run through.

this was posted in my for sale thread, does anyone know if this is right?

'Just a heads up on unlocking the phone once you have contacted Orange to arrange the unlock it can. E synced with any iTunes account as it is done from the Emi number not the SIM so you could request the unlock then just post the phone and they can sync through iTunes themselves also Orange won't unlock if you are not at least half way through contract'

( Orange won't unlock if you are not at least half way through contract' )
WRONG as long as you 2months into ur iphone contract with them they will unlock it for £20 orange told me this other day when i called up to unlock my iphone 4 and told me it shud take 3 working days to unlock

any1 can call orange up if u think im talking crap

Its been 6 days so far and it's still locked!!!

i called orange on Nov 4th and i plugged it into itunes on the Nov 8th and it restarted my iphone 4 then my 3 sim card was working so only a few days 4 me maybe give orange or apple a call if its been 6days dont for get none working days dont count

ORANGE! They are terrible! I put the request in 11 days ago and they are saying 30 days and then complain if its not done by then. I have complained now. They say that they need an unlock code from Apple who deny that such a thing actually exists.
What Apple says makes sense (though it pains me to admit it!). I.e. that they didn't sell it to me locked, that Orange locked it and so Orange can unlock it. All that Apple need to do is a restore once it is unlocked.
Orange on the other hand have told me lie after lie." They need an unlock code from Apple, they won't let me speak to the unlock department (which has no phones!!!!), Apple have a policy of only unlocking after 30 days (it used to be 14 -17 but they have just changed)," etc.

Apple say that others, eg 3 , do it in about 72 hours.

I WOULD recommend Orange to my worst enemy, but only because I am evil!

i rang orange to unlock my iphone 4s on the 7th of march, the blah blah blah about 30 days, waiting for apple etc was given, it is now the 17th of may and it STILL isnt unlocked..im fuming, i keep ringing and they keep telling me there has been a fault with apple, im priority on the list, they checked my email address and as of yet nothing...im frustrated as i have a 4s that isn't being used...any advice???

Starting in October 2011, it took me 3 MONTHS to get my iphone unlocked, and then it only happened because the one lady gave me the number for the secretary to the main customer services managers secretary.
I wish I'd kept the number because now i need to get another one unlocked.
I'm dreading it to be honest.
I WILL NEVER USE ORANGE AGAIN!

i rang up on the 20th sept last month and still am waiting for it to be unlocked they are absolute bonkers orange worst ever

Dont you have to wait for Orange to let you know they have done it, then restoring it with a new sim in it, iTunes comes up with unlocked then.

I asked Orange to unlock my iPhone 4 on the 18th Sept 2012. Spoke to them 30 days later and was told that they have recently altered the way they arrange an unlock for iPhones and when my request was processed it was processed the wrong way. That was their reason for the delay. Im now on 34th day and still waiting. Can not wait to get off Orange

Chilly74 i am in the same boat as you... its now my 30th day. It is a replacement handset so there apparently was confusion between the IMEI numbers with that and the originally purchased iphone 4. I rang them on Sat 13/10/12 to query why it was taking so long and they said they had no records of an unlock request. I was then told that a fast track was requested and would take 48hrs to receive the unlock email. Because of the weekend i presumed Tues 16/10/12 but nothing so contacted Apple. They stated that because it was a replacement handset sent from AppleCare that Orange would need to send the IMEI number from my original Iphone. Spoke to Orange again and they confirmed the priority Email was sent to Apple but it would depend on whose desk it landed on, and may take upto 30 days again. In between these phone calls i have made others and get differing stories, Eg. 'You could of taken it into an Orange Store spending £5 and get it Unlocked' 'We have sent both IMEI numbers to Apple'....WTF. Let me stress no-one at Orange is interested and the call centre staff in Delhi havent got a clue what they are doing. Had no phone now for 30 days. Cheers...Idiots.

They have confirmed my IMEI is correct and its an original handset bought from Orange so no problem there. They are just idiots that cant do their job.

I bought iPhone 4S from my friend, it was an insurance replacement for her original phone which was stolen. When her phone was stolen she cancelled her contract with Orange as at the time she couldn't afford the excess for the insurance company. I have no desire to use Orange but cannot get it unlocked by Orange as I am not the original owner. My friend no longer has Orange account so they won't unlock it for her either. It's brand new, never used and I am at a loss how to get it unlocked - any suggestions?

I bought my friends iPhone 3gs when she upgraded to ip 5. She paid the £20 unlock fee and was told it would take 30 days but realistically only 10. It's now day 34 and still the phone is locked.
My friend has been in constant touch with Orange who have passed her backwards and forwards promising each time that it will be done that day.

My daughter's phone is in contract with orange, which I pay, and its up at Xmas. There is no way I will be renewing with them they are useless. I will let u know how long it takes.

Orange are absolutely horrendous. They said to me it wouuld take 10-20 days to get it unlocked. I rang them at the beginining of October its been almost a month since the request.. rung them up again the other day they said they or apple are processing it. Taking the ****. I am waiting around a phone to be used! What an absolute joke orange are. I will NEVER use them again.

My son has gone out to NZ to work . He paid £60 on 29th sep 2012 to unlock his i phone - he's still waiting!!!! I am continually being told that the Orange system is 'down' and no-one knows when it'll be up and running again. In their defence the shop has offered a full refund. But that doesn't help my son!!!!!!

I have the exact same problem and I went to an orange store to complain and I was stood in the que and a couple before me was explaining the same problem I couldn't belive it so I interrupted and said I had the same problem as usuall they fobbed us off ORANGE ARE THE WORST COMPANY in the world they deserve to be bankrupt and shut down !!!!

I have paid a deposit on an unlocking website to get my daughters Iphone unlocked. The website is legitimate, however the message received on my order status update says that they are waiting for the Orange / T-Mobile merger to Everything Everywhere to complete and may take 1-2 weeks....I thought the merger had already completed. Could be an old message but a different reason to those mentioned previously on this thread. Just typical of my luck!! Come on Orange sort yourselves out...You will not be encouraging future users to take out new contracts if it is this difficult to unlock a device that is rightfully and legitimately mine!!!

Orange are so... Crap! I never write on forums but had to! It was meant to be unlocked today (after 30 days) and it's still locked! Doubt it'll be unlocked! Will get my £20 refund an put iphone4s on gumtree, doubt anyone will but it as it's locked on orange!!

Just wondering if any of you guys have got yours unlocked yet?

I've been waiting 8 days now, they said it takes 20. I'm without a phone til then.

Im sure theyve cocked it up, as 1/I left them because of a complaint re overcharging me and made them waive the unlocking fee and 2/The handset i need unlocked isnt the one orange gave me - i had to replace that one via Apple.

Its really annoying, with timescales of 20 days they won't even check if its in process, and you only find out if theres a problem on day 20, then you gotta wai ANOTHER 20.

I know for a fact the unlock can be done in 24 hrs as vodaphone unlocked my old 3GS quickly. It's an automated process on Apples end, I don't see why it takes orange so long to type in an IMEI and click 'Send to Apple'

Orange are ridiculous !! I rang on the 27th sep and eventually got my iPhone unlocked on the 30th nov , they took my £20 on the 17th oct . But only bin on my new network for 3 days and they have locked it again . Absolute nightmare !! I would NEVER recommend orange !

Bought an iPhone 4S off my mate as he had upgraded to iPhone 5. He paid £20 for the iPhone 4S to be unlocked and they then unlocked the iPhone 5 11 days later.
They then charged him another £20 to unlock the phone requested in the first place, and I'm still waiting!!! Utterly useless and when you call up orange customer service (joke) you get somebody who doesn't know what they're doing and you can't understand what they're saying. Complete ****. Will never recommend orange to anybody. They have to be THE WORST SERVICE PROVIDER EVER!!!!!!!

I phoned Orange on Jan 2 ithey took the £20 on Jan 3 it's now Feb 8 and Im still waiting

    Gunna begin unlocking process tomorrow

Will keep updated on progress. Have been registered for 90 days.

Didnt think it would go through. Apparently removing the sim card and using it in another phone once resets the date.

Now the website has changed to 6 months. And the advisor as instructed it will be 6 months use before unlock.

I phone orange on 10th of feb and I'm still waiting on the unlock tried to phone again no unlock and it's been 9 days since I phoned them.

I've just emailed the head of orange to say that i requested a unlock with orange on 10 of February and now no unlock since its been
9 days since i phoned them, Still waiting

I bought a iPhone 5 off my mate its locked to orange. They said takes up to 7 days. Only been 3 workin days. Surely hundreds people get them unlocked.? I hope it gets unlocked soon I gave 400 quid for it still not been kable to use it. What are the unlocking companies off the Internet like? Only thing try carte a bomb to unlock them?

I paid the fee to unlock my phone on 13th February... 10 days later i am still waiting. The customer service at Orange is awful, apparently i cannot complain yet because it can take upto 30 days.... RUBBISH!!!!

I have heard its a nightmare I am still waiting as we'll. but I also paid the cellphoneunlock.net fee of 80 quid to try and do it.they are one of the cheapest.lots online companies will not unlock orange for some reason Maybe give them a go if u get stuck,i will let u know how I get on. And if it gets done lol. Been told orange are one of the worst. Good luck anyways

Do it yourself. Its pretty easy.

Galaxy sim unlock. It costs £1.60 instead of £20 and it doesn't take 30 days. It unlocks your phone in about....

    0.17 seconds!

If you don't have a Galaxy, look for a similar tool for your phone. Not sure if the company make any other phone unlock tools but its possible. Do a bit of research. You can try a few free ones, but you will probably have to pay for a decent unlock tool.

I done loads research, got the R-sim7 also but waiting few more days in case it does actually get factory unlocked. Other wise going to try the r-sim7 and if that does not work then the last option will be jail breaking then unlocking it through jailbreak but not really up for that the phone plays up a bit once jail broken I think. Not use to technology it's all bit complicated for m likening these days.

Give DCX a PM, he is an arrogant **** but he does know what he is talking about.

Hello, I have had an IPhone 4 purchaced from Orange with a 24 month contract that has expired...I am paid in full and paid Orange £20 and change to Orange in advance to unlock my phone...they say it will take 20 working days to unlock but when I inquire to customer service, I get the run around, I get double talk about dates and time left. I am going to USA for treatment of a health situation and will be gone for some time. My phone was blocked (receive only incoming calls) when I cancelled my month to month after contract ended, but still haven't heard anything via email or verification that phone is unlocked...I get the same run around each time I inquire...any suggestions as to who I can contact? My departure date is approaching in 21 days and it been that since I requested the unlock...any options or is orange trying to wait me out? Please help?

    thanks
