12 minutes! It has had quite a lot of use though! But now i have to have it constantly plugged in because yesterday i tried and it lasted ten minutes. It went 100%-67% so i thought yeah thats okay after ten minutes then 2 minutes later it went 7% flashing and then immediately off
New battery methinks or new laptop, getting a bit dated.

what did yours last before when it was new, and what does it last now? (after how long)

Same was happening with my laptop battery, had to be permanently plugged in. Got a new laptop because other problems were happening too (so no point just replacing battery)

Time I get from a charge depends on what I am doing on the laptop at the time

    9 hours.

    Of normal use:?

about 10 mins on low brightness sound muted.
5 mins on max brightness sound on max.
its 3 years old and i used to keep the battery in all the time, even when i was using the power cable.

about 1.5 hours on full power, 2.5 to 3 hours on powersaver.

I think that is really good, seen as how it is a 19inch! :w00t:

    and nearly 3 year old.

My battery is about 19 months old. At first it gave me about 3 hours and today I noticed it was down to 39 minutes. The last one did the same until I had to keep it plugged in.

Fair enough - thought this was about laptops though.

apparently mine is supposed to last 9 hours, but I get about 5-6 hours from it now, also that is using "Super Performance" mode, don't really use it in power saving lol.

    It's an eee 1005ha

biggest problem with laptop cells is that people use them as a desktop, constantly plugged in, and that kills em.

You need to cycle the batteries to keep them alive, leaving them plugged in will turn your 3-4 hrs use to minutes within a few weeks..

Didn't know this, been leaving it plugged in for days and days whilst downloading things, will start taking the battery out if it does have a bad effect on the batteries life

My battery lasted about 2.5 hours, then suddenly it decided it was flat (was plugged in) and has never charged up since :x

thats a myth you know. turning them on then leaving it a few mins before plugging in will kill it.

For my most power efficient machine (a Sony Vaio) which uses a ULV processor it can manage 12-14 hours on its extended battery although Sony's extended batteries tend to be well above the norm for capacity, even the base battery can be a higher capacity than some extended batteries.

I've read the various recommendations about removing batteries and various preservation techniques but I don't use them. I find removing the battery is problematic as the laptop is designed to be balanced with the battery attached which makes it unbalanced with the battery off making simple operations like opening or closing the screen clumsy. I also prefer to use extended batteries, partially for capacity but also because they usually lift the rear of the machine up which allows the cooling system to function better. Li-ion batteries are going to degrade over time no matter how well you try to preserve them and despite just using my machines as normal, their batterylife has remained reasonable and certainly no worse than I'd expect for the normal li-ion battery lifetime.
