How long has this policy been in place at Boots?

"For the safety of our customers, we can't accept returned medicines, cosmetics or foods, unless faulty"

I tried to return something which i bought over the counter, it was only a cream and it is still sealed.

I just think they are going a bit over the top, it is obviously sealed and unused.

I now have some cream which i do not need.

Policy has always been in place I think..

Seems fine to me, makes sense you don't know whos been messing with the food they return!

Sensible policy. Medicines are very tightly controlled and rightly so. It is a legal requirement driven by the Medical Health Regulations Authority.
Whether it looks sealed or not, it can still be tampered with. Most temper evidence can be frigged to look like it's never been touched.
I don't want to risk using something which could have been messed with.

I 100% agree with their policy. How bad would it look for them if someone returned a very good replica???

It's not just Boots Policy...........it's all shops. Health and Safety laws dictate it.

If you didn't need the cream, what compelled you to buy it in the first place?

In Asda I picked up the wrong flavour cooking sauce by accident and wouldn't use it.

It cost £2 so I asked if I could exchange it next time I was in there and they wouldn't let me - it was still sealed but they said they won't let you return foodstuffs.

I didn't complain or anything, I think it's fair to be honest
