How long is your "no claims bonus" valid for after you stop your insurance ?

Found 24th May 2007
Im just wondering as Im thinking of selling my car and I just wondered how long the no claims bonus would be valid for before it was lost. Im coming up to 3 years but when I do sell I dont wanna rush to get another car or keep my insurance going.

When I do get another car and if I use another insurance company I think I need written proof of the ncb, should I get this when my insurance runs out if I have sold my car?

I think its upto a year, Would be better to ring your insurance company to confirm though.
