How Much Do You Pay For A DVD / Blu-Ray?

Do you pay full price day one?

Do you wait until it goes under a certain price, before buying it?

Do you have to get the special edition if there is one?

(This question is for DVD's you buy personally not as a gift for someone else)

I generally wait till they drop to a good price, which for a random title for me is normally:
    £2-4 for a DVD
    £3-6 for a Blu ray

If it is a specific title I am after I will pay about 25% more.

How many Blurays have you had for £3?

I'll only buy DVDs for £2-3, never paid more than £6 for a bluray, although i only have Dark knight, Batman begins and Toy Story 1 and 2. :-D

You sound like a market researcher.

My maximum for any DVD is about £3.
I don't mind if it's a 1 disc standard edition or a 10 disc super uber deluxe edition, as long as the price is right then i'll buy it

I've had a few for under £4 and also even had a trilogy for free!
I've got about 30 blu rays and have paid upto £12 before! But more about specific titles I wanted, otherwise I will usually wait.

    Haha! Nope, just curious.

For me, I don't like to pay any more than £4 for a dvd (only if i really like or want the film) and I'l go up to £5 for a double.

I just think that when deals come up on here, like day one release '£8' i'm not going to pay that as a few weeks down the line its going to drop price!

£15-17 for a blu ray on release
£6 max for a dvd for something released in 2-3 months

    Dont buy dvds on release

If a film is a "blockbuster" film then it will either have a great promotion in Tesco or Asda for like £8 on release, in that case I'd buy it. Blu Rays I wait till its around £5-7 to buy them.

People still buying DVDs over Blu rays then?

Personally I wouldn't touch DVDs again. I know they can be had for a little as £2 these days but Blu Rays can be had for around the £6 too. I'd much rather wait a few months longer for the Blu to drop rather than opt for the very cheap DVD.

I know some people think some movies aren't worth it in HD unless it is a big budget effects type. I have to disagree with that as any movie worth buying (in other words something you like) should be seen in the best quality available. You can tell the difference in pretty much all cases so HD it has to be for me!

But a movie like UP would it really matter whether it was in HD or not its all computerised anyway?

I don't think it would make a huge impact.

cant remember the last time I even bought a DVD dont really see the point when downloads and HD rips are the way to go. big films I really want to see ill buy on blu ray but dont really like to spend over a tenner ideally 6-8 quid.

It honestly absolutely makes a massive difference. Look at this comparison of Toy Story for example - dvdbeaver.com/fil…htm

havent seen UP yet, but on personally experience with any type on animation film on blu ray the quality just blows you away, so in answer to your question yes it does make a difference

    £3 for DVD.
    £10 for Blu-ray.

its on my list of HD downloads lol

Usually depends on the title, I paid £6 for the Hurt Locker a month or so ago in Asda. Most old stuff I'll get for a few quid in supermarkets etc. I think the most I've paid for a new release was about a tenner when Dark Knight came out !
