I was unemployed from 16 until I was 19 yet still managed to spend money on people.

I have got some real bargains this year, I have probably got £500 worth of really lovely presents for less than £140 which I spread throughout the year when I saw things that would suit people and the prices were right from bargains on here, eBay and other places.
I can't wait to give people their gifts, I have had so much fun and pleasure organising them for people (and would love it it I was given each and every one of them myself!) I can't wait to see their faces when they open them

Totally agree with that! Unfortunately my son isnt a believer now though I have never confirmed this to him lol. In fact just today he said "mum even the headmistress told me its all a big lie" lol Obviously she didnt, but come this time of the year he gets so caught up in it all he starts to doubt himself X)

Do people tend to spread the present buying and costs around or do you wait until nearer Christmas?

I always start around August - picking up wee things here and there................then leave bigger things when I know whats wanted, till October/November. No way could I leave it all till last minute. Would spoil that lovely relaxed Christmasy feeling that we are all enjoying at the moment!

    You tight git.

    Only joking!

My bf buys me everything I need all year round.

If I want £50 for the sales I will get it christmas or not

I like spending ..................and do that loads!!

Always buy my son and husband treats throughout the year - but just love this time of the year when my husband has gone out and got me something really special. Have no idea what he has got for me this Christmas plus its our first wedding anniversary Christmas Eve

Been a fantastic first year for us all

I have bought presents for people.

I've never understood why people spend so much though! Unless they are actually christian there is no real reason to spend loads/celebrate christmas.

I think I might call mine 'ashes winning' presents.

    You are soooooo mean

I am very loved up at the moment because he looks after me so much.

Hope you have a great christmas.

Also, I would be more than happy just getting **** / having the christmas meal than actually getting presents.

Most of the time it is just wasted money.

prob be about £500 in total, woopsie! no point in being the richest person in the graveyard though!

    As much as it takes.

But it's taking a lot more these days!!!

I said not the stuff I picked as I picked it with them in mind, but if I see a total steal now I am buying it to give to the SEN school my eldest goes too. Must stop buying X)

Yeah Tinks, I posted something similar earlier re when u are super organised and start buying in early............come December you are still buying!!! I have tons and all our friends and family are going to love their pressies.

My lovely mother in law is terrified of flying......so for Christmas we have got her .........a trip round the Lochs of Scotland in a helicopter X) she is petrified of flying and has never flown before................so we are both hoping this might help her as we are trying to plan huge holiday end of next year with both sides of the family and dont want her to not come!!

omg Ace - u sound like my husband! He is always coming out with stuff like that "Ooohh many a person in the cemetry would swap places with you" .........all of that - but he is right

Afraid to say that this year I have gone mad...all on myself. The wife and daughter haven't done too bad either.

This blooming site hasn't helped us as every bargain we have spotted, whether we needed it or not, it's been purchased. The only thing I am dreading is the wife and daughter wanting to get up at 'stupid o'clock' for the sales where no doubt they will spend another fortune. Thank the lord my bank balance can handle it.

That's a really nice idea, my friend used to work in a SEN school and used to bring things in now and again for them, nothing expensive, but always much appreciated and she enjoyed seeing some of the children's faces light up with joy. It was a very rewarding, but also exhausting, job.

I was so over organised this year, I think I had bought most of my presents by August X) Just because I saw something ideal for someone and got it.
Now I get to enjoy the Christmas spirit (and spirits, got to love a bit of Baileys) and no fretting about the snow (apart from our lack of oil and central heating that is!).
Things are tight at home so we were told to just get each other small gifts but I have had so much enjoyment from getting what I have for other people I just can't wait for them to open them

I wouldn't mind if everything they bought was used or worn, as a lot of stuff is an impulse buy Last Christmas between them they got me to buy 3 different coloured Chloe Paddington handbags, inc a diamante, and each one has only been used the once. Now that is what I call a waste of money. This time I don't want to see what they buy then I can't comment.

Merry Christmas everyone, and night night.

we have so much stuff already the house will burst, I really prefer to ignore it all now everyone else's kids are grown up. But we put up fairy lights in the windows tonight so the kids the other side of the field will see them. So we spend next to nothing usually, but this year two expensive house things are being called our presents, and the family all agreed years ago to mutully stop buying each other the wrong size jumper etc and take the peace of not shopping as the seasonal gift.

    tinkerbell28

But it's not a waste, it's an invesment

I thought that at first but I am still waiting for that night of steaming hot passion X)
