I need to send a letter to Germany but wondering if I can put it in the postbox with stamps I have rather than going down to the post office - but I am a little confused about the correct postage.

I checked the post office website, am I right in assuming its 97p? If anyone can confirm this id be grateful (just a little letter with one piece of paper, no value)

Just checked with the wife and she says 97p & putting in the postbox will be fine. She works for the post office
As above. 97p but it does need an airmail/par avion sticker

Or stick to good old fashioned English and write "AIRMAIL". If you write "LUFTPOST" it will get there extra fast. (_;)
