    How much for SKY+ upgrade

I've got just the basic Sky TV set up and want to upgrade to Sky+, anybody know how much it would cost? I know I'm going to have to have another cable run from the dish so there will be some instalation cost involved.

Also, I'm thinking of upgrading to Sky sports for the winter, are there any offers on that at the moment?

the box is free but you will get charged £60 for install ( you may be able to talk them down to £30 though)

Depending on how long you been with them/whether you are still in contract, I would call to cancel subscription, say you have started working shifts and missing all your favourite programmes so no point in having sky subscription, cant afford any extra £ at the moment to get a sky+ box or pay for engineer. Will maybe half the installation cost, push them that you really cant afford anything extra at the moment and eventually you should get it for free

The amount they will get from you continuing with their service is a lot more than paying for an engineer so they would rather send one out free and not lose you as a customer

I'm really no good at the telling them 'I'm going to cancel' thing. I know a work college tried it and they just said 'ok then'. I will try to haggle them down a bit though.

That's interesting! Anybody know if this is true?
    thanks Randa

can you still get a normal sky+ box?, thought you could only get a HD box now. so that also comes with a £10 a month increase. you can most likely get the install for free as you have to sign up for 12 months.

EDIT: just checked, you can still get normal plus boxes.

I think they install HD boxes as standard now but don't force the HD sub. It's probably cheaper for them to mass produce just the HD boxes then hope in the future you may take out the additional subscription.

We tried the "I'm going to cancel" story, but as we live in a non-cable area Sky know they have us by the round hairy things. They said "OK" & cancelled our contract. We did get mailshots inviting us to reconsider but without offering us anything.

In the end we joined again as new customers (using Quidco).

Well its how I got free sky+ box and installation

Probably depends on package, we have full package and multiroom so would not be a customer they want to lose

We've been a customer for over 10 years but always had the basic tv set up, so i'm guesssing we're not a customer they're not too bothered about loosing as I'd imagine they're more ineterested in people with full pakages and broadband and phone set up etc.

I just subscribed after cancelling last month. Did it in my name this time as opposed to the OH's last time, got half price code off ebay for £30. This meant I got free installation, another free Sky HD box, free HD subscription and full subscription for £25.50 a month for 12 months (and initial £30 ebay code purchase). You can go for a cheaper package, half price applies to all packages.

Also went through quidco for potential £100 cashback though not confident it will go through.

Hi master_chief, can you pm me the details of the bay link you bought( ie how I can buy the voucher, not your voucher- unless you want to) so I can purchase the same as you have. Thx lliam
