How much is my laptop worth?

    Hi Guys,

Am gonna be listing my laptop in local ads/ebay etc but want to know how much I should ask for my laptop.

Its a Dell Inspiron 640m, bought in January 2007. Practically brand new as I got a new work laptop a couple of weeks later and this went back into its box.

Comes with all disks, manuals, boxed basically like new, no scratches, no marks no nothing.

    Specs are:

    14.1in XGA+ LCD
    Intel Core2Duo 1.66Ghz
1024mb ram (2x512mb running in dual channel)
    60 GB Hard Drive
    CD Writer
    Wi-Fi
    Integrated Intel 915GM Graphics
Extended 9-cell battery for long life
    Dell Carry-case

How much do you reckon this will be worth?

    Cheers

I would say £400 on a good day, based on the dells that are out at the moment. As long as there's no hoops on it ;o)

I'll give ye a fiver and me signed larsson jersey.

    £350 ..

As long as it's core2duo and not centrino duo then that's good for the value.

You'll definitely want to reinstall the OS and if you have the OS discs then that will bump up the value nicely.

If you had a DVDRW drive then you would probably get rather a lot more, as CDRW drives are a bit backward nowadays.

I actually have a spare DVDRW drive for the 640m (mine was replaced due to it buzzing on 1 or 2 discs which I own - but otherwise works fine) in case you're interested.

I'd say that this is worth £350ish with the current spec.

Yeah was hoping this pushes £400. I think local ads may be better. The combination of paypal and ebay fees will knock me out

Ahhh a signed Larsson top is worth infinitely more my good friend!

to get the most for your laptop, market it as a "highly portable laptop"

i.e. small & compact, light, quiet, good battery life

it's not supposed to have a big screen, and is more expensive because it's harder to manufacture a smaller laptop (with all the components inside).

don't let anyone "pay less 'coz it's not got a big screen like the inspiron 6400".
