How much to fit new UPVC guttering, fascias, bargeboard and soffits ?

Found 21st Jan 2009
I have been looking to get someone in to replace my old guttering with UPVC and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea how much it would cost.
I live in a 2 bedroom semi-detatched house and need new guttering, drainpipes, fascias, soffits (to stop the birds nesting in the eves) and bargeboard on the side apex .

Can anyone let me know how much they paid for theirs to be done so I have something to go on when I get some quotes

Just had mine done. Cost about £1500 - but it was a mate that did it. (Probably meant he charged me more!!!)
Hi joerob1972

I'm looking to get ours done too.

Apparently there are 2 methods

Option 1 is to remove all the old wood and totally replace with UPVC, this is the expensive option as it involves removing the bottom 2 or 3 rows of tiles and erecting scaffolding in our case

Option 2 is to put the UPVC on top of the wood, this works out at about a third cheaper

I have had a quote for option 1 and it is very expensive, just waiting for a quote for option 2
I paid £1000 about 5 years ago on a house that is 5 metres wide. I didn't have bargeboards on my side apex (the way the house is designed) but did have my bay window overhang completely re-newed.

I would go with removal of the old wood option, then you know it won't ever go rotten. One of my roof joists was rotting when they removed the old wood, they cut the joist & fixed it up for an extra £20. No scaffolding required when they did mine.

Especially if you are replacing because the existing is rotten - make sure you get the old boards removed. Dont get it placed over the top. False economy and probably lead to problems later on.
3 bed semi with garage on the side, porch and bay window cost £2300 for UPVC covers over the wood, not full replacement. On top had to pay for scaffolding over the garage and conservatory which cost an additional £500.
Anglian Home Improvement started off quoting £5k for the same job, really ****** me off so I contacted a local conservatory installer and did a bit of commensense bartering to get a price I was happy with.

That was to remove the old wood & replace it with wood grain effect upvc (usually dearer than white). I will try & remember the name of the company that did it, it was a local north west one. They were very good & took about 10minutes to give me a quote.....none of this "we can give you a 40% discount" or "let me ring the boss for a further discount" rubbish.
