How much to get rid of wasps nest?

We have found a wasps nest which we need to get rid of - 2 quotes so far £150 and £200 plus vat. Any idea if this is the going rate - we live in N London/ Hertfordshire. Thanks

    Kill it with fire.

We had one quite a few years back and the council came out and removed it as we had a young baby at the time. Don't know if they still do that ?

    Hope this helps

Most councils will do it for you for example: rushcliffe.gov.uk/doc…352
Wasps - £45.00 (inc vat) - (5 days response time)

As above try the council, Or if you know any trout fishermen, give them a ring, When I had a wasps nest at my old house, I got talking to someone about how to deal with it. His eyes lit up and he was round asap to collect the nest, something to do with wasp grubs make brilliant trout bait.

the powder worked in 1 night, you squirt it into the entrance at night when all the wasps are in and in-active (mine was in the wall cavity of the house behind a vent brick) the powder sticks to the wasps feet and they carry it right into where the queen is and kills it. If the nest is out in the open and you dont want to get close they also had wasp nest killer foam that you can squirt at it from a distance of a few metres

council's do it very cheap, price varies depending where you live,I had one done for £25 or if it affecting a public footpath or suchlike its free

Free where i live if you call the council.

we had one under the paving slabs last summer-soaked it in petrol, set alight-job done-not strictly conventional I know but worked for me.

    That made me lol, repped!

Had a swarm of wasps get into my bathroom last year and the council came out to deal with it for free (might be because I've got two young kids though, I'm not sure).

Had a nest in the garden too a couple of years back, and used a foam to get rid of it:

just get a makeshift flame thrower.

Body Spray + Match (or Lighter) = Death For The Wasps!

+1...apparently the fishermen use the larvae as bait or something...see if there are any fishing club type things near where you live? They would more than likely do it for free as they get the bait.
