is the player set to output sound via hdmi?
the amp is otherwise working fine?
are you outputting the correct audio codec over hdmi that your amp can handle? ie Linear/DTS/TrueHD

An easy way is to connect the amp with the Blu-Ray player by Optical cable. and then the Blu-Ray player and TV with a HDMI cable

+1 that's how i've got mine set up

optical is the way to go.......HDMI from the player to the TV then optical from the TV to the amp. Works for me. Might be an option for yourself??

thats how i do mine...but i dont have hdmi input.
But this then means you can have all your hdmi sources through the amp and thus through one lead to the tv...

Another thing...does your bluray actually output audio over hdmi? ie not stereo but surround? as that could be causing the problem and thus might require a digital coxial/optical anyways

Not sure that it is, its a samsung X715 home cinema, its connected to the tv via hdmi and optical, anything sound wise played thru the tv gets played thru the X715 via the optical 'i think'. ie.... cable tv via hdmi to the tv then to the amp via optical, same for xbox. mind you its not blueray, but the ps3 covers that and its also connected the same way. obviously cd, radio and dvd play straight thru the X715.

have a Pioneer digital home theater amp with 4 hdmi out puts, i have a Panasonic blu-ray DMP-bd81 with 0ne Hdmi out put, and the only other out put connection is ethernet connection to my moderm . I also have a Humax hdr - fox free view player/recorder . I need to connect the 3 hdmi out puts to my Hitachi P50TPO1U A. on my TV I have only 1 HDMI input. I have bought a portta 3x1 HDMI switcher which will connect to my TV. Will I be able to play my blu-ray and amplifier together through the splitter together so I receive blu-ray quality on my TV and surround sound through my Amp and 5 speaker system with a sub woofer. I am trying to set this up for my mother as her dvd home theater system has broken down and I have replaced it with my pioneer digital amp' I have also recently bought the blu-ray system to work in unison with the amp and TV. question will this work and if not how can i get it to work ? I look forward to hearing your replies / Thank You !

Why have you bought a splitter?

From what I gather, you have an Pioneer amp which has 3 HDMI inputs and 1 output. You want to connect your Blu-ray player and Freeview box to the amp. (Make sure they're in the inputs) then connect the Amp directly to the TV. (Via it's output)

You don't need the splitter. Your amp's HDMI ports aren't all output ports. Only 1 of the 4 is. The other 3 will be inputs. You'll get sound through the amp's speakers and the picture on the TV this way.

Thank You for your quick response and information. I have tried this but my but i only received sound from my humax free view/recorder via amp (no picture). I connected the humax to the Tv by hdmi leads and connected the humax to the amp via RCA leads. The Humax is now working but the blu-ray requires me unplugging the humax HDMI cables and replacing it with the amp HDMI out and connecting to the hdmi connection on the TV. I will try faster 1.3 hdmi leads and connect in the manor stated by you and a technical assistant at Richard Sounds (i phoned). Thanks again and I will update my thread tomorrow, Fingers Crossed. LOL

Just put your humax into HDMI 1 and your blu ray into HDMI 2 (both on your amp). Then HDMI from the HDMI out on your amp into the TV. Make sure you have the TV tuned to HDMI when amp is switched on, and amp on HDMI 1 or 2 depending which you want tp watch. You don't need faster HDMI leads and you don't need any RCA leads or splitters.

What model is your Pioneer amp so we can check?

If you got sound and picture from your humax to your TV then it definitely should have outputted through your amp. You shouldn't have to buy anything. If you still want to though, please don't listen to the salesmen who will push expensive cables on you. HDMI is digital and buying more expensive cables, won't give you a better picture.

As Deeky said above though, let us know your amp model number and the humax box number too. We'll be able to help you further.

Might be a long shot, but is the firmware up to date on your player? Any chance you can connect it to the internet and update it?

it is connected to the internet by ethernet cable. the blu ray is new its the first time it has been used and the updates are on automatic, Thanks for your time Bid

Sorry, no idea. I suggest you either try calling the Panasonic tech help line 0844 844 3899 or join AVForums and ask in there avforums.com/

I have a similar problem. I own a Sony Bravia TV and a Yamaha amplifier RV-677 and cant get a picture on my TV when i am playing a DVD on my Blue Ray player, its never been a problem in the past but in the past two months i cant get a picture, DVD recorder works fine, DVD recorder and Blue Ray player work through the TV direct. Amplifier has been checked by Richer Sounds and all HDMI outputs are working fine. Anyone got any ideas.
