Hello everyone,

I need to open a new bank account to make a big purchase for my girlfriends birthday a.s.a.p!

Can i start using my new bank account straight after opening online? Will i have to wait for the card/details to be sent out via mail etc?

My only other card is a joint account. I cant make the purchase using this card as it will show up on the statement.

Thanks in advance.

You won't be able to start using it straight away. I just opened a new one with First Direct and they send out documents to sign before they open the account. probably could be done within a week

If you have a Metrobank anywhere near you you can open an account in branch in 30 minutes and walk out with the card ready to use.

think about getting Revolut account which you can use straight away but just means you would need to find a way to top the account up like paying a friend to transfer into your account

The best and risk free option (compare to all those prepaid cards).

Could you not put the money in a friends account and get them to order it ?

You need to open an account for one purchase ? You don't have any parents or friends you could give the cash too ? Do you have any common sense ?

No parents. It's not just a one off purchase by the way. A large deposit is also needed in case of damage etc, my friends wouldn't want their accounts being risked incase any thing went wrong.

I don't have an ounce of common sense.
