thats what im on alfonse, but im not sure what i have to do..
Ive got the ports, TCP 80
UDP 88
UDP 3074
TCP 3074
UDP 53
TCP 53
but UDP and TCP are not there?

I'm guessing your wanting your Xbox on the network to use as a media server, but it's firmwares a bit iffy and you don't want it to be banned from Xboxlive?

the ones it tells you to enable, just forward them to 127.0.0.1 instead of to the xbox

I know but his lad is on it now..
I want to be able to know and show him to block the ports.

i assume the guide you're looking at is about setting up NAT forwarding on your router

so it will tell you to set forwarding on port XXXX to port XXXX on the ip of the xbox 192.168.xxx.xxx
well do as it says bit instead for the IP bit put 127.0.0.1 that is the local loopback address, a special IP address that tells the hardware to talk to itself.

i think that should do the trick. but if he just wants to ban him from live, can't you do that in the family settings on the xbox?

i cant edit the 192.168.xxx.xxx bit its already filled in so to speak.

just close these ports:

UDP 88
UDP 3074
TCP 3074

how do i do that though?

With my particular router..

Ive gone into the blocked services part as the link above does and entered in those ports..

Actually even BETTER way.

Block the mac address.

only allow certain mac addresses to connect through it.
then you can easily just block and unblock the address instead of messing with ports.

far simpler would be to parental block the xbox
