How to cancel a moble contract

I dont want to name and shame the company really. Am i allowed ? I looked at a forum site about ending a phone contract, which is due to expire on 15/11/2009. Tons of people reported that they have had loads of problems trying to cancel. Has anybody else ? I did speak with my network provider who said i needed to send this request in the form of a letter giving 30 days notice. I was provided a po box address in banbury. I looked on line and the po box address is in doncaster. Are they giving me the run around ?. You would think this could be done over the telephone or on line.

Your contact ends in 4 weeks and u want to cancel? I dont see why not, you will be asked to pay the remaining balance on the contract tho.

No i will pay the final bill due on 15/11/2009. I just want to end it after I have paid my last bill. i thought they would just continue to keep charging me if not.

The mighty V... they are awkward, but I wrote the letter and broke free over 3 months ago....

You have to write, they then send you a letter or try and call you, if you fail to respond they have to cancel within your stated period...

You still get charged the month after though....

I had no endless amounts of problems with trying to cancel my Vodafone contract, they didn't make it easy. THe crazy thing was that my contract had actually expired several months earlier! First they said I had to put it in writing, Challenged them as it wasn't necessary, their rep said he was new and had to check, so they accepted cancellation over the phone and raised a PAC code. Then kept getting phone calls from their cancellations depet, trying to keep me. Kept saying not interested, they then got irrate over the phone, until I got my PAC code in writing with a nice accompanying standard letter.

Even with my PAC code and it VF took several days to completely transfer my phone number to O2. I was able to dial out with O2, but not able to receive calls because VF hadn't completely transferred me their end. About one month later I started receiving threatening letters from their debt collection dept (even though I didn't owe them a thing) and invoices for calls I didn't make because I was no longer with them :x.

I challenged them and told them that I'd advised Which legal department and OFCOM. Ended getting a letter/statement one month later, advising me that they'd written off the debt!:x even though it wasn't mine in the first place.

Good Luck. If it's VF, be prepared for long phone calls on hold, especially if you're trying to get through to cancellation dept.

No. I will send two more today.

The Vodafone site says that you can give notice of cancellation by e-mail which I did a week or so ago. I received a letter a few days later confirming the cancellation and the last day of service. Couldn't have been easier. Have I been lucky?

i,m coming to my end of contract soon, what exactly do you put on your letter to cancel, do u have to put your mobile number and account number on the letter itself, does anything else need to be on there besides that?
