    Brown or tomato sauce

a thing called SILVO - similar to brasso but for obvious reasons it's for silver..

if you not used it it's like cotton wool, just tear it off rub it till it's all mucky then wipe off with a clean cloth..

    shiny

Am sure coke cleans silver jewellery.
    7up too apparently!

Theres been a gadget around for years , some metal plate which is imersed in water with your silver trinkets and it draws out the dirt like a magnet . No polishing or scrubbing involved and doesn't do any damage .
I suppose a search for silver cleaner may bring something up .

silvo is just as good if not better - plus no messing about with fizzy pop, metal strips or other gadgets. tear a bit off, wipe the jewellery put the tin back in cupboard

I've got a tub called Silver Dip which you just put your stuff in and shake it for a bit then lift it out all nice and shiny. Cost less than £2 in Asda a while back.

Yes ,thats what you need after you've scrubbed off the silver after cleaning with the likes of Brasso.

heres a few other sugestions :

    "electrolysis:
use sodium bicarbonate and salt in very hot water with aluminium container or foil."

"They make a product that is called Tarnax, this is great, you can soak the silver in it and all the residue will come off"

"If you fill a bowl of bleach or vinegar and put the dirty old silver thing in there. Leave for about an hour and when you come back just wipe the dirt of with a sponge"

"Coat then in brown sauce for about 30 minutes then use an old toothbrush and cool water to clean up. You will be amazed at the results."

This seems to be the most popular method :

    You will need

    • Washing up bowl
    • Warm water
    • Bicarbonate of soda
    • Aluminium foil

Step 1 Wash the aluminium foil to remove any debris
Step 2 Place in the bottom of a washing up bowl and add warm water and 3 tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda
Step 3 Place silver items in the bowl (make sure that they are touching the foil) and leave for 10 minutes
Step 5 Remove the items and rinse them
Step 6 Dry and buff each item with a soft cloth

If it just needs a polish you can get silver polishing cloths they are really good bring it up nice and sparkly. I use one for the fancy xmas cutlery. Got mine from a jeweller but I've seen them in home bargains.
