    how to cook a pizza and not make the bottom crunchy. please help (rep added for help)

    im about to embark on my adventure of cooking tea and ive chosen a frozen pizza and chips, but every time i cook a pizza in the oven the bottom goes all crispy and abit hard and just for once id like to cook a pizza and it ends up like the ones from pizza hut you know where when you pick it up the bottom bends abit under the weight of the cheese

    has anyone got any tips how i can achieve this effect in my oven?

    dont have the oven on so hot

    buy a pizza tray and cook it on that.


    best idea - make the pizza yourself. or, stick to good pizzas - that massive chicago town one, any pizza express one...

    buy a crap oven

    or use a halogen oven use it all the time and does pizza like the delivery ones soft base but with cooked golden top hmmmm perfect everytime and only takes about 7-8 mins on about 210c

    Try basting the bottom with water. When I do garlic bread I like it soft, so I put a little water on and it comes out nice n soft and not crunchy

    Here's a few methods:

    If you can defrost the pizza as much as you can, do so. Then jack the oven up to as hot as it will go and stick the pizza in. As its already thawed the pizza should need cooking only enough to melt the topping and warm the rest of it.

    The other option is to part cook the pizza in the oven, then stick the pizza under the grill for a few minutes to cook the remainder of the pizza.

    Lastly, if you are cooking in an older, non fan oven try and cook the pizza on the highest shelf. HEat is usually generated from the bottom of the oven. if you stick it on a higher shelf it should cook more evenly.

    This may be down to personnel preference but I believe the exact opposite.

    I find raising the heat makes more of a difference so the softness of the base.

    If its hotter it cooks quicker, leaving it less time in the oven to dry out. If its cooked for longer on a lower heat it just tends to dry things out a little more and give the crust a "biscuity" texture.
