Post of the day. 'hot water'

is it the drain below the shower or the actual shower? salt down the plughole might work if its the drain

    the actual shower

Wouldn't have thought your shower pipes would freeze unless they go outside of the house, do they?

best way to cure your frozen shower is to remove the shower head, pour a little boiling waater over it, lift the pipe so it points upwards, then pour about 500g of salt into it. mix in more boiling water if it won't go in, andd use a funnel if you have one. screw the shower head back on, and leave it for a few hours.

Could be an air problem caused by frozen valve try hitting the shower unit or pipes as hard as you can with a hammer or drilling a small hole in pipe to release the pressure, should work fine then

I find it highly unlikely they are frozen then.

And almost an impossibility that the shower head hose is frozen.

is it an electric shower or heated from your boiler?

Not enough info here to seriously help the hapless Peter.

Peter, answer these questions if you can:

    1) Is the shower electric or combi boiler fed?
    2) Regardless of 1, does the supply pipe come from the mains or from a storage tank?
    3) Does any water come out of the shower head at all?
    4) You say the pipes are in the wall, is this wall a stud wall or a brick wall?
    5) Are all other water outlet unaffected?

No way this is down to frozen pipes.

You know these need the sun to work yea?

    yes thanks bully!

I've just had a plumber out and the valve in my shower is also frozen solid - he said only thing to do is wait for it to thaw out. It got to -13 degrees here last night so the remaining water in there froze solid - even with the heating on!!!!
