    How to do a fresh install on macbook and erase previous install of hard drive

    As title. Tried to re-install the operating system and it went through all the install but still came up as my previous install.

    Any tips to erase/ format the hard drive and do fresh install would be great. thanks

    Just erase the hard disk first on the install disk before you proceed with installation. Should be able to access disk utilities from there.

    i have tried to locate the erase but can't seem to find it. Just can find the erase free space and thats it?

    You need to use disk utility to format the disk, you can do it during the install.

    Run the disc, let it boot the mac up. Open up the disc utility. You should be able to erase the hard drive completely. The re install the software os.
