Hi
I have a netgear router DG834GT and need the user name and password.
It is not admin and password so at some stage we must have set it i think. When we first went on the internet we were not very tech savvie so have not made a note of it.
Is there anything i can do to find it out or reset it in someway without it causing me any problems with all the things i have going through it, ie netbooks, pc, playstation etc.
Thanks.
I have tried googling but to be honest all the sites are ones i have never heard of and i am worried they may be bad one to get my details.

Have you tried admin, admin

If not your going to have to do a reset.

try admin for username and password

Their's normally a reset button on the back/bottom, the type that requires a pen to push it in. If you hold it in for 5 secs this should take it back to factory settings as from new.

on the bt routers, and some others they are written on the router, or the documentation that came with the equipment, the default on most are;

admin

admin

all in lower case. sometimes but not often its

admin for username, and password for password.

if you have changed these yourself then you will need to reset your router completely.

who is your internet provider, did they provide you with your router? If your ISP is sky try Username: admin, Password: sky

Thanks its not admin and password already tried and also tried my usual passwords.
Thanks may have to be a reset. How will this affect all my netbooks, ps3 etc

I kept the box my router came in, and when I set the userid/password and other settings I write them on a piece of paper and put them in the box.

That way I always know where to find them.

try admin for username and admin for password, as already said

supermod

Most of the NETGEAR devices, except ReadyNAS products and Fully Managed … Most of the NETGEAR devices, except ReadyNAS products and Fully Managed switches, have the following default username and password: * Username = admin * Password = password * o For older devices, password = 1234

just a few more to try - but the instructions for resetting can be found at this link

Before doing a factory reset you need
1) to be using a wired (ethernet) connection to the router.
2) to know the following:
ADSL Login Name (get this from your ISP)
ADSL password (get this from your ISP)
The WiFi SSID (you already know this, because you used it to setup the netbooks & playstation)
The WiFi WEP key (same comment as per SSID).

Get the user manual here:
kbserver.netgear.com/pdf…pdf

Once you have all these this is how you reset the router:
1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds).
2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.
